Wolf Canyon Hold and Win Review
The Native American theme keeps cropping up on a regular basis, and a decent job has been done with the audiovisual presentation in Wolf Canyon Hold and Win. There’s hardly anything new to see here though, but sometimes familiarity isn’t such a bad thing either. You get plenty of wolves howling at the moon, and totem wilds can fill the 3 middle reels.
Attention to detail has clearly been paid by the design theme, as the royal symbols come with tribal patterns, ropes and arrows. The canyon seems idyllic enough, and you get glimpses of it when fully stacked totem wilds merge to become semi-transparent. The Hold & Win feature is standard stuff though, and the same can be said about the bonus round. Your best chance at cracking the 8,888x potential comes from the random Dreamcatcher jackpot feature.
Wolf Canyon Hold and Win Slot Features
The premium symbols, consisting of 3 wolves and an Native American lady with a wolf pup as the top-tier symbol, pay between 4 and 6 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The totem Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins, and they will also appear stacked many times on the 3 middle reels.
The Hold & Win feature triggers when you land 5+ cash moon symbols, and this awards 3 respins for starters. The triggering cash moon symbols are sticky on a cleared grid, and each new sticky cash moon you land resets the respins tally to 3 again. Fill all positions to win the 1,000x Grand Jackpot, and you can also land Mini, Minor and Major jackpot symbols that pay 30x, 100x and 500x your stake, respectively.
The Wolf Feature Pick triggers when you land 3 scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5, and you’ll then pick a black or white wolf to win either the Hold & Win feature (described above) or the Bonus Round. The latter gives you 8, 10 or 12 free spins, and the bonus round comes with 25, 50, 75 or 100 extra wilds added to the reel strips. You can retrigger the feature by landing 3 scatters on the same free spin.
The Dreamcatcher seen up in the right-hand side corner will sometimes shake, and this may or may not land you the Dreamcatcher jackpot. If you win, you get an instant prize of 8x, 88x, 888x or 8,888x your stake, and it’s totally random which of the prizes you get.
The 200 Spins Wolf Canyon Hold and Win Slot Experience
Although we see plenty of Hold & Win style games every month, we quite enjoyed the Native American theme in Wolf Canyon Hold and Win. We have put together a brief and edited highlights video for you as usual, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The Hold & Win range keeps growing in an impressive tempo, and Wolf Canyon Hold and Win is not a very original release in most regards. The Native American theme is nicely done and enjoyable though, but we’ve seen similar many times before. A previous title seems to be the inspiration for this release, as it comes with very similar features.
The base game single spin max win is 150x your stake, unless you trigger the Dreamcatcher jackpot feature, of course. This adds a bit of teasing tension when it shakes, but both bonus rounds are fairly run-of-the-mill stuff. Extra wilds are always welcome, but we wouldn’t have minded a larger fill-the-grid jackpot than 1,000x in the Hold & Win feature. Overall, Wolf Canyon is worth a spin or two if you enjoy the Native American animal theme and familiar features.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fully stacked wilds can land on reels 2-4 | Very similar to a previous Hold & Win title |
| Hold & Win w/ 1,000x full grid jackpot | |
| FS w/ up to 100 extra wilds on the reel strips | |
| Random Dreamcatcher jackpot up to 8,888x |
If you enjoy Wolf Canyon Hold and Win Slot you should also try:
A similar title - comes with a festive theme, and also gives you expanding wilds on the 3 middle reels. Up to 100 additional wilds are awarded in the bonus round, and you get a 1,000x full grid jackpot in the hold-and-win feature. A random jackpot up to 8,888x can also be won.
Another Native American release - is pretty similar to the original. It comes with an instant prize feature, and a bonus round where wins are boosted by an x3 multiplier. Wilds come with an x2 multiplier, and the overall max win is high.
Another Wolf themed release - is a medium volatile slot, and you get a Hold and Win feature with 3 fixed jackpots up for grabs. The jackpots can also be landed in the free spins round, and the overall potential is good.
