Sometimes you don't know what to expect, so having an adventurous spirit is a good idea when trying games. You get plenty of that in Spirit of Adventure, as the title indicates. This installment revolves around a female aviator explorer. She is on the right-hand side, and she also takes center stage as the moving collector wild in the bonus round.

The visual presentation is solid, but perhaps a bit incongruent, and the base game offers nothing but wilds and pretty decent overall symbol values. The bonus round is more or less all-important, and it puts on quite a show each time. The wild moves around to collect relic prizes, and this upgrades the respective relic prize multipliers. A totem is unleashed on the final spin to chase the wild for indefinite extra spins, and you can win up to 5,100x your stake.

Spirit of Adventure Slot Features

The premium gemstone symbols pay between 50 and 200 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and any combination of 5 relic symbols pay 20x your stake. The aviator heroine is the Wild symbol, and she steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations. The Wild holds no value of its own however, and it comes into play during the bonus round only.

You trigger the Bonus Round by landing 3, 4 or 5 bonus scatters anywhere in view, and this awards 8, 10 or 12 free spins, respectively. You can also trigger the feature by landing the island symbol on reel 3, and this always gives you 12 free spins. All relic symbols become cash prize symbols in the bonus round, and they come with random values between 2x and 5,000x your stake, depending on the relic type.

The Wild symbol moves to a random position per free spin, and it also collects the value from all relic symbols that appear adjacent to the wild. The relic value is awarded as a win, and the relic symbol is then collected in the relic-specific trail above the grid. Collecting enough relics gives each collected relic prize a multiplier boost from that point forward, and it works as follows:

• The sword relic prize gets an x2 multiplier boost when 4 has been collected.
• The sun disc relic prize gets an x3 multiplier boost when 4 has been collected.
• The goblet relic prize gets an x5 multiplier boost when 3 has been collected.
• The tiki mask relic prize gets an x10 multiplier boost when 3 has been collected.

You also win 3, 4 or 5 extra free spins when a relic trail has been completed, but you cannot win more extra spins in total than what you got initially. When your free spins run out, a 1x1-sized Totem symbol will appear. You get indefinite extra spins as this totem moves around randomly per spin, and the feature only ends when the totem and the wild lands on the same position. The island symbol can land at any time, and this awards random relic symbols.

If you win less than 2,250x your stake from the bonus round, a Mystery Prize option becomes available before you go back to the base game. You can either collect your winnings, or take your chances on this mystery prize, as it can be both smaller and larger than your current win. Finally, non-UK players can buy the bonus round for 100x the stake, and this guarantees at least 3 triggering scatters on the spin that follows.

Review Summary

We found the unnatural head movement of the aviator heroine to be a bit distracting, but other than that you get a pretty decent visual presentation this time. The gemstone symbols seem a bit misplaced though, but the pace is excellent if you hold down the space bar for turbo spin mode. This is good, since the base game can be a tedious affair, although larger payouts up to 2,000x are theoretically possible.

Having 2 ways into the bonus round is never wrong, but again, there is something strange and off-putting about how the heroine moves on the Wild symbol. We get the point of the green radar scanner thing that surrounds her, but it still looks kind of weird. The relic hunt is pretty fun though, and it can lead to solid payouts up to 5,100x. The totem extra spins feature can go on for a good while too, and the mystery prize option gives you a final shot at winning big if you were unsuccessful in your relic hunt.
