Reel of Riches Review
The development team took their time with this new release, and Reel of Riches is a follow-up to an older game. You get to join the same Indiana Jones-like explorer in Reel of Riches. Once again you’re taken to the land of pyramids and pharaohs.
It really feels like the reels are tied to some heavy machinery, and we quite enjoyed how you can feel each spin. Random triple spins with a full wild reel in the middle can dish out decent wins now and then, and things heat up if you land the second or third tier of the bonus round. You can upgrade to new tiers as well, but the max win is still a mediocre 2,400x your stake.
Reel of Riches Review Features
The premium symbols pay between 3.75 and 50 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol pays the same as the top-tier Explorer symbol. The Wild also steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins, like wilds usually do.
The 3rd reel sits between golden frames, and this indicates that the middle reel is special. It will award the Reel of Riches feature at random times in the base game, and this means that the 3rd reel becomes a fully stacked wild reel for 3 consecutive spins. If you land exactly 2 scatters anywhere in view, they turn into wild symbols. This is known as Divine Transformation.
You need 3+ scatters in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and this awards 7 free spins no matter how many triggering scatters you land. What varies is the bonus round level, as you get the Super version with 4 triggering scatters, and the Mega version with 5 triggering scatters.
The grid expands to 3-3-5-3-3 in the regular 3-scatter version, and the middle reel lands nothing but wild symbols. You can also upgrade the feature to the Super tier, and this gives you extra spins and expands the grid to 5-3-5-3-3. In addition, reel 1 also becomes a wild reel. Retrigger again, and you get a fresh batch of Mega Spins on a 5-3-5-3-5 grid with reels 1, 3 and 5 persistently wild.
The 200 Spins Reel of Riches Review Experience
You get to see the base game for a while, before we trigger the regular bonus round at 1:40 into the 3-minute highlights video. The feature plays out for the remainder of the video, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
We immediately liked the way spinning the reels makes you feel in Reel of Riches. It’s like you’re wielding immense power just by hitting the spin button. It makes each spin feel significant, even if nothing much happens. The ancient Egypt explorer theme is nicely done, and this is certainly a better game than its predecessor.
Visually, there are similarities, but Reel of Riches is overall more solid. The middle wild reel kicks in for 3 spins on a regular basis, awarding mostly top-up wins in the base game. The upgradable bonus round is your best chance at cracking the mediocre 2,400x potential, not least if you manage to get 3 full wild reels. A higher potential would’ve helped this release, but as it is we don’t see it going all that far.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Landing ‘near-miss’ 2 scatters turn them wild | High volatility and mediocre 2,400x potential |
| Wild middle reel 3 consecutive spins at random times | |
| 3-tier FS w/ expanded grid and up to 3 wild reels |
If you enjoy Reel of Riches Review you should also try:
Another game has you join the same explorer looking for a lost underground river from an ancient Egypt legend. The river is made of pure gold, so it’s worth looking for, and the bonus round comes with wilds and fixed wilds.
Another similar game is an audiovisual masterpiece, and it really demonstrates that there is still untapped potential in the cliched ancient Egypt theme. You’ll benefit from soul orb wilds with increasing multipliers, and there are 2 different bonus round that come with a 10,000x potential.
One more title takes you back to medieval times, and into an observatory of some kind. Avalanche wins expand the grid, and the gravity mechanic tumbles multiplier symbols to the leftmost grid frame to increase the win multiplier. It never resets in the bonus round, and the max win is 50,000x your stake.
