Drill That Gold Review
Whenever a new mining slot appears, there’s always excitement. It’s easy to identify with the lone prospector and his search for riches in the form of gold nuggets and/or gemstones. We had our hopes up for Drill That Gold, but also a feeling it would be a run-of-the-mill effort.
Our suspicion was correct. Like the bonus round intro takes you for a visual mine shaft ride that ends up where you started, the game is mostly visual tricks dressing up well-known features. The base game is all about the expanded drill wild, and it may award a cash prize which is guaranteed with the Ante Bet turned on. You get more of that in the bonus round, with enhanced cash prizes up to 1,000x and a decent 5,000x potential.
Drill That Gold Slot Features
The premium symbols pay between 4 and 12.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the detonator Wild steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete winning combos. The Wild also pays the same as the top-tier dwarf/miner symbol if you land 5 on a payline. The Ante Bet option can be turned on/off between spins, and it costs 25 % more per spin.
Landing a full stack of the dwarf/miner symbol in the base game triggers the Drill Feature. With the ante bet turned off, the stack turns into a silver drill symbol which is basically a full wild reel. The silver drill may also reveal an instant cash prize of x2 to x100. With the ante bet turned on however, you get a golden drill that always awards a random instant cash prize.
The miner Dwarf is messing with his broken wire ends, and this will sometimes trigger a modifier on non-winning spins. This guarantees a win of at least 10x your stake, and it can also give you enough bonus scatters to trigger the bonus round.
The Gold Spins Bonus Round triggers when you land 3, 4 or 5 bonus scatters anywhere in view, and this gives you 6, 8 or 10 free spins, respectively. The feature comes with both silver and golden drills, and the golden drill expanded wild guarantees an instant cash prize. The silver drill wild can also land you cash prizes, from the same range of 5x, 10x, 15x, 25x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 200x, 500x or 1,000x your stake, but it’s not guaranteed.
It’s easier to get the drill feature in the bonus round, as even a single miner/dwarf symbol in view triggers the nudge feature. This means that the whole stack nudges up or down to fill the reel, giving you a silver or golden drill wild reel. Finally, you win 4, 6, 8 or 10 extra spins when you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters on the same free spin.
The 200 Spins Drill That Gold Slot Experience
You get to see a few decent golden drill instant cash prizes in the base game, before the miner dwarf helps us trigger the bonus round at 2:36 into the 4:37-minute highlights video. You’re then taken for a tour of the mine shaft, before returning to what looks like the original reel set, and we got 6 free spins for starters. Check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
There’s a pre-packaged and hasty vibe hanging over this production. The drilling feature is mostly for show, as it’s basically a full-reel wild that may or may not award an instant cash prize. The Ante Bet is probably a good idea, since you then get an instant cash prize each time, although you’re mostly looking at top-up wins in the base game anyway.
We wouldn’t have minded a few more modifiers added to the miner dwarf’s repertoire, but he can be quite helpful when it comes to triggering the bonus round. The biggest difference from the base game is the higher drill wild cash prizes, and a 1,000x prize is admittedly a decent nugget. You’ll probably need a few of those to crack the 5,000x potential however, as 250x your stake is the most you can hope for from a regular symbols win.
