If you’re looking for a simple, predictable and traditional Christmas slot, you cannot go wrong with Merry Christmas Megaways. However, there are better alternatives in the Holidays genre this year. What you get here is cascading wins with mystery symbols, and a bonus round with an unlimited progressive win multiplier. Nothing new to see in other words, but maybe good enough for a whirl or two between the endless Christmas dinners.
Merry Christmas Megaways Features
The Santa symbol sticks out because it’s worth 50x your stake for a 5-oak win, while the 3 other premiums pay between 2 and 7.5 x your stake for the same. The Wild symbol will only slide in on the top horizontal reel, and it cannot appear on the regular grid. The Wild holds no value of its own, but it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations.
You can decide to switch on the Fortune Bet feature between any given spin sequence, and it will cost you 50 % more per spin if you do. The upside is that you’re 3 times as likely to trigger the Bonus Round with the Fortune Bet turned on.
Winning symbols are removed via the Cascading feature, and replaced by new and/or existing symbols that drop down from above to fill the gaps. This process repeats as long as you keep winning. Symbols are also removed from the top sliding reel, and replaced by new symbols that slide in from the right. Mystery symbols can appear in random numbers at random times, and these are all revealed as a random matching pay symbol.
The Bonus Round triggers when you land at least 4 scatters anywhere in view, and 4 scatters award 12 free spins. Anymore triggering scatters above the minimum of 4 awards +2 extra spins on top of that. A progressive win multiplier with no upper limit becomes active during the feature, and it increases by +1 per cascading win. You also get +5 or +10 extra spins when you land 3 or 4 scatters on a free spin, respectively, and up to 80 free spins can be won at the most.
