Krazy Klimber Review

Some might remember the arcade game, Crazy Climber, from their childhood, and it seems reasonable to assume that Krazy Klimber has found some inspiration there. Visually, this slot version looks like it was created in the early 80s too, and we guess this is supposed to appeal to a certain player segment. The game itself borrows the storyline from King Kong, and it’s all about ascending the prize ladder skyscraper to win the 1,000x top prize.

Beware that there are 2 versions of this game. One with a standard 96.06 % RTP, and another with a below-average 94.09 % RTP. They come with a small difference in hit rate, but the max win gap is more significant. With the higher RTP version you get a lower 1,128x max win, and low volatility. With the lower RTP version you get a more decent 3,902x potential, and medium volatility. Still, it’s kind of like choosing between pest and cholera, as neither option is very attractive in our view.

Krazy Klimber slot Features

Kong himself is the wild symbol, and he thus steps in for all regular pay symbols like wilds usually do. The Climb Feature is the highlight of this game, and it triggers when you land a bonus symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin. You will then see the giant ape ascend the skyscraper, next to a cash prize ladder that increases in value the higher you go.

It’s totally random how high Kong climbs, and you win whatever prize he stops at. This can be a multiplier win of 10 to 1,000 x your stake, or it can be 10 to 20 free spins. You’re taken back to the base game after the cash prize is paid, or straight to the bonus round if you win free spins.

The Bonus Round comes with 1, 2 or 3 Super Wilds on any given free spin, and these are simply full reel wilds that step in for all pay symbols to help you form winning combinations. There is no way to retrigger the free spins feature, but you get a 2x or 10x cash prize up front.

Review Summary

The King Kong-inspired concept certainly has potential, but the execution of Krazy Klimber is close to being a total disaster. The game has a very strange and dated visual style, which perhaps appeals to a narrow niche that few people know or care about. It doesn’t really have that much nostalgic appeal either, if that is indeed what they are going for.

The 96.06 % RTP version comes with a 1,128x max win (happened 1 time in 1.5 billion spins during testing), while the 94.09 % RTP version comes with a 3,902x potential. Neither is worthwhile in our opinion, and after you’ve seen the gorilla climb a few times, the features are pretty much a snoozefest. Most players will hardly even notice this release.
