Devour The Weak Review
It’s no secret that the creator has a knack for creating solid underworld slots, and Devour The Weak adds another one to the pile in that regard. The pits of hell look like the inside of a volcano, and the reels are filled with rather nasty looking demon creatures. They fly around like ghosts on occasions as well, and the heavy metal soundtrack creates a headbanging atmosphere that a certain crowd will probably enjoy.
The “weak” symbols are devoured in this game, which is what the title alludes to, as equal and lower value symbols are removed together with winning symbols. These are then collected to upgrade and increment the win multiplier, and it starts and resets to x6 in the bonus round. You get wild transformations as well, and you can win up to a solid 10,000x your stake. We had a good time testing Devour The Weak at least, but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Devour The Weak Slot Features
You can turn on the Golden Bet between any given base game spin, and this will cost you 50 % more per spin. The benefit is +1 added to the free spins counter, as well as an increased amount of hexed symbols (more about that below). The premium character symbols pay between 1.5 and 2.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol pays 2.5x for 5 wilds on a payline as well. The wild symbol also steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins.
All winning symbols are removed via the Dropdown feature, and new and/or existing symbols will then fill the gaps by dropping down from above. This process repeats for as long as you keep winning. What makes the feature stick out in this game is the fact that also symbols of equal or lower value than the winning symbols are removed.
You will see a Multiplier Trail on the left-hand side, and it can go as high as x666. It starts and resets to x1 between base game spins, however, and all removed symbols add 1 point each to the Multiplier Counter. You need 6 points to upgrade the win multiplier to the next tier, and the values in chronological order are as follows: x1, x2, x3, x4, x6, x8, x11, x22, x33, x44, x66, x88, x111, x222, x333, x444, and x666.
Hexed pay symbols come with an orb attached, and hexed symbols that are removed via the Dropdown mechanic contribute to the free spins meter (see below). The position of hexed symbols are also turned into wild symbols that may help prolong your winning streak.
You need to collect 6 hexed winning symbols in the same dropdown sequence to fill the free spins meter, and this triggers the Bonus Round with 10 free spins. Getting additional points beyond the minimum of 6 adds +1 to additional free spin per additional point. Hexed symbols on the 3 middle reels turn wild instantly when they appear, and the win multiplier starts and resets to x6 between free spins. You win extra spins per free spin symbol that appears.
The Bonus Buy menu is available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. If eligible, you can purchase 10 to 13 free spins for 100x the stake, and this gives you the x6 starting/default multiplier. You can also pay 666x your stake for 14 to 17 free spins, and this gives you a win multiplier that starts and resets to x33 between free spins.
The 200 Spins Devour The Weak Slot Experience
You get a decent taste of the base game, before we purchase and trigger the top-tier bonus round around the 1-minute mark. You get to see some solid payouts for sure, and the feature plays out for the remainder of the almost 5-minute highlights video. You can check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The creator does the hellish underworld theme well, and they have taken us down to the pits of hell more than a few times in the past already. Devour The Weak is another solid depiction of the place nobody wants to end up, with different mean looking demons on the reels. The title is clever as well, as the weaker symbols do get devoured via the dropdown mechanic. We have seen plenty of multiplier trail installments in other series, and it’s a bit surprising that they didn’t make this into another installment in that range.
Perhaps they wanted Devour The Weak to be a standalone game, and we don’t mind really, as the multiplier trail system is still exciting and potentially highly lucrative. The multiplier can increment up to solid numbers in all stages, and not least in the bonus round. It still resets between free spins though, unlike other system, and the 10,000x potential is not up there with the best. Still, a solid enough max win for a volatile game, and we think most players will enjoy what the creator has thrown together in Devour The Weak.
