Icarus Symbol Replacement
If at least 2 Icarus symbols are present at the end of a spin or Avalanche sequence, the symbol replacement feature triggers. The Icarus symbols and all regular pay symbols above them are replaced with a chosen pay symbol. Big symbols are also replaced, and the Icarus symbol can land in sizes 1x1 and 2x2. Symbols below the 2x2-sized Icarus symbol turn wild, and a 9th row is added if the Icarus symbol triggers on row 8.
Pandora's Box Symbol
The Pandora’s Box symbol absorbs all winning symbols, breaking down larger symbols to the 1x1 size in the process. At the end of the Avalanche sequence, the Pandora’s Box symbol adds its collected symbol types to the grid sequentially, starting with the most frequently collected symbol type. If there are several collected symbol types of the same amount, the most valuable symbol type goes first. The Pandora’s Box symbol is removed when the process is complete.
Split Symbol
Pay symbols can sometimes land with a split marker attached, and this splits all symbols of that type on the grid. This doubles the amount of the affected symbol type or types, and big symbols are broken down to size 1x1 before being split.
Wild Forge Symbol
The Wild Forge symbol not only substitutes for pay symbols to help complete wins, but it also forges wild symbols in empty positions below. The Wild Forge symbol remains sticky for the duration of any Avalanche sequence, but the wild symbols it forges below itself are removed if part of a win.
Elysian Gold Free Spins
The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols in view, awarding 10, 15, 20, or 25 free spins, respectively. Winning free spins increases the safety level by one row, meaning the next spin starts at the achieved safety level row number. All Wild Forges remain sticky for the duration of the bonus round, and the same goes for regular wild symbols. Our Verdict
It’s not really all that surprising that the hero has decided to come back. From one afterlife to another, this guy is really on a roll in his quest for eternal riches, and Elysian Gold takes you on a tranquil journey to the edge of the Great Unknown and back.
The title offers a perfect blend of familiar and innovative elements. You’ve got the avalanches expanding the grid, big symbols, and wild forges, all great features that have kept this popular series going through many exciting locations. The visuals are well done, and the symmetric presentation creates a tranquil atmosphere that fits the theme.
The splits feature is a welcome addition, adding yet another way to explode the number of win ways to new heights. The Pandora’s Box symbol is more of a game-changer, at least in my view, as this symbol can truly wreak havoc when the stars align.
The problem is, you seldom get to see it truly shine unless you’re willing to cough up for the Super Bonus. It’s a recurring issue that super bonuses cannot be triggered organically, which feels like a missed opportunity each time. The 94 % RTP is another thing, Elysian Gold is a pretty solid comeback for our beloved hero, boasting a 25,000x max win as it does, and we hope to join the hero on plenty more adventures in the future.
