Cats of the Caribbean Review
It was hard not to be charmed by the Scottish cats in Snowborn Games’ previous Cat Clans, and in Cats of the Caribbean you get to go on a buccaneering adventure with some cool-looking pirate cats. The colorful and cartoonish visual style is similar, and you get plenty of animated antics accompanied by a swashbuckling soundtrack.
Cannonball wild symbols are collected in a chest that says “wilds”, and this eventually triggers wild cannon seen on the opposite side. This is how you get random wilds in the base game, while all 3 tiers of the bonus round awards random cannon wilds per free spin. You can win up to 10,000x your stake, which is most likely to come from the Cats Pots jackpot wheel feature.
Cats of the Caribbean Slot Features
The premium character symbols, Big Tabby, Captain Claw, Captain Catnip and Captain Red, all pay 5x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. Wild symbols pay 10x your stake for the same, and they also step in for pay symbols to help complete wins.
The Wild Cannon sits in front of the grid on the right-hand side, and it will activate at random times. This adds 2 to 15 wild symbols randomly blasted onto the reels, and wilds placed on top of wilds increase the wild multiplier by +1 each time.
You need 3 scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 to trigger the Bonus Round, and there are 3 different versions of the feature. Which tier you get is determined by the scatter type that lands on reel 5, and here’s an overview:
- Captain Red Bonus Round - awards 15 free spins with 90 guaranteed wilds.

You get one extra row during the feature, which increases the number of paylines to 30. Review Summary
We quite enjoyed the previous Cat Clans from Snowborn, and Cats of the Caribbean comes across as a visually similar follow-up. The pirate theme is a tad more familiar than the Scottish clan theme from the first game, but both installments are filled with charming feline characters. The Wild Cannon can deliver decent wins in the base game, at least if you also get some multiplier action to spice things up.
The bonus round comes with plenty of wilds and multiplier wilds, depending a bit on which tier you get. These are hardly new or innovative features in any way, but the way they’re blasted onto the grid via the cannon is kind of entertaining. The 10,000x potential is pretty solid, but we’re unsure how realistic that is outside of winning the mega cats pots jackpot.
