This is a new Egyptian-themed slot, which is yet another addition to the collection of games built on the popular ‘book’ mechanics. Following the footsteps of the original game, the one under review brings pretty much a similar experience to the players, utilizing the same looks and gameplay, but as the title implies, the changes concern the reel system of the game, which has now been expanded to 20 win ways.

Aside from that, however, there was no room to get creative, so expect everything to stay untouched. On the surface, the slot stays true to its older brother, or rather looks absolutely identical so that you really wouldn’t tell the difference between these games if there wasn’t a name shown on top of the screen. Anyway, you should keep in mind that it’s a game released for a specific audience, and those who are into the retro style won’t find anything to complain about here. It evokes that essential nostalgic vibe and immerses you into the delightful Egyptian atmosphere with its old-fashioned yet charming graphics and a classy soundtrack.

You can play the slot on any device, and as little as £0.01 is required to give it a spin, though, that’s when playing with only 1 payline. With 20 ways selected, bets levels vary from £0.2 at the lowest up to £200 at the highest, which should appeal to everyone.

Nine regular symbols appear across 5x3 reels, creating winning combos when at least 2 or 3 matching symbols depending on the type land adjacently starting from the leftmost reel. They are classic A-J card ranks, which are low symbols, and scarabs, statues, pharaohs, and explorers, which make up the higher lot. Combinations of five low symbols pay from 5x to 7.5x your bet, and the premiums are worth from 37.5x to 250x your bet for five-of-a-kind.

In terms of math, it hasn’t benefited much since the first release. It offers the same poor 1,000x top prize and comes with a slightly lower-than-average RTP value of 95.58%. Yet, you should expect payouts to occur fairly often, as the variance level isn’t that brutal after all, and the hit rate is decent at 28.5%.

Slot Features

Obviously, the main attraction of the slot is the Free Spins feature, and true to ‘book’ genre traditions, it is triggered by landing 3+ book symbols simultaneously anywhere on the reels. Book symbols are Wild and Scatter at the same time, acting as a substitute for any other symbols as well as being the key to activating the central feature. When 3, 4, or 5 appear, players receive 10 free spins to start with, as well as get a fixed cash prize of 2x, 20x, or 200x the base bet.

Before the feature kicks off, a random regular symbol is chosen to turn into a Bonus symbol. The selected symbol always expands to cover the reels entirely whenever a winning combination is possible. Plus, they don’t necessarily have to land on consecutive reels and pay anywhere in view.

Finally, retriggers are also possible. Unfortunately, landing another combination of 3 or more Scatter symbols during the free games doesn’t award an additional bonus symbol but only grants +10 extra spins.

Additionally, winnings can be increased via the Gamble feature, offered after any win you achieve in the base game. The point is to guess the color of the next drawn card. Guess correctly, your win will be doubled. Make a wrong move though, all winnings will be lost.

To sum things up, this is a quirky slot, with nothing new for players to offer. It sticks to the traditional ‘book’ slots formula, keeping everything close to the classics, so the game won’t really capture the hearts of many.
