At first glance, this release didn’t make much sense. What in the world are wildly different characters like Henry VII, Churchill and Shakespeare doing on the London subway (or ‘The Tube’, as it’s usually called). Things soon fall into place however, as you realize that Down the Rails is an ode to London and British history.

You get to meet caricature characters based on Sir Isaac Newton and Florence Nightingale, in addition to the above-mentioned characters, and the game is packed with different modifiers and features. You get 5 randomly triggered in the base game, and you can gamble to upgrade whatever bonus round you get. There are 5 different bonus rounds as well, and you can win up to 5,000x your stake.

Down the Rails Slot Features

The 5 famous British characters serve as the premium symbols in this game, and they pay between 10 and 25 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The newspaper Wild pays the same as the top-tier Shakespeare symbol, and it also steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins. The wild can appear on any reel, but it does not substitute for any bonus or special symbols.

You can trigger the following 5 modifiers at random times in the base game:

If you lose the gamble you still win 4 to 24 x your stake as a consolation prize, before you’re taken back to the base game. You can accept whatever bonus you’ve accomplished between gambles, and if you reach the ‘End of the Line’ you have no choice but to accept.

Pentonville awards 5 free spins, and all winning symbols are marked as a cluster while the remaining symbols respin. The respins only ends when the initial cluster is not improved upon, and the total win from the respins round is then paid.

You get 5 free spins in the Kings Cross bonus round as well, and spots on the middle reels are marked in a cross on each spin. Whenever you land a wild symbol in a marked position, all other marked positions turn wild as well.

The End of the Line feature is a hold & respin kind of bonus, and you start with 3 respins on a cleared grid. Each character cash symbol resets the respins tally to 3 again, and the cash symbols become sticky on the grid. They come with values between 1x and 2,500x your stake, and you can also land special modifier symbols:

• Extra Life - resets the spin tally to 3 if it reaches zero, and you need to collect 3 to get 1 extra life.
• Prize Boost - the money prize symbol values increase for every 3 collected.
• Expand - adds an extra row per 3 collected, and 5 rows is the most you can get.
• Multiplier - increments the multiplier from x2 to x3, and finally to x5 for every 3 collected.

The multiplier you achieve during the feature is applied at the end, when the total win is summed up. The feature ends when you run out of respins, hit the win cap or cover the full grid with cash prize symbols.
