Avalon Gold Slot Features
The grid expands per Cascading win, as symbols are removed and replaced by new symbols dropping from above. A row is added each time, and you can go from 4,096 win ways to 262,144 ways to win with a maxed out 6x8 grid. The premium symbols pay between 2 and 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the Golden Wild steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins. The cascading mechanic goes on as long as you keep winning, and everything resets between base game spins.
You can land Big Symbols in sizes 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4, and these can be regular pay symbols or Mystery Boxes. The big symbols count as a bunch of 1x1 sized symbols, and empty positions below any big symbol turn into the same symbol type as the big symbol above. If symbols land with a golden frame, empty positions above will be filled with wild symbols. This is known as the Expanding Wilds feature.
You need at least 5 Mystery Boxes in view to activate the mystery feature, and unactivated mystery boxes are basically blocker tiles of no value. When they are activated, however, the mystery boxes reveal the same random pay symbol, wilds, or they trigger the Avalon feature. The Avalon feature gives you the following:
- Coin - a cash prize coin of random value.
- Multiplier - will boost all present coin prizes.
- Swiper - upgrades the previous coin by adding 1 in front of the number (8 becomes 18, for example).
- Collect - collects all coin prizes in sight, and reactivates all the mystery boxes.
- Redrop - gives you another symbol drop, and also reactivates the mystery boxes.
You need 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and this gives you 10, 15, 20, or 25 free spins, respectively. Mystery Boxes accumulate between free spins, as they are persistent until activated. You still need 5+ in view to get them activated, and they are removed after the Avalon feature has played out.
You start with the default 6x4 grid, and the safety level is increased by +1 row after winning spins. This means that your achieved grid size is saved between spins, and the safety level grid still maxes out at size 6x8. You can retrigger the bonus round by landing 3 to 6 scatters, and this gives you 10 to 25 extra spins, respectively.

He looks good in his golden armour in Avalon Gold, and the grid expanding action comes with some entertaining innovations as usual. The mystery boxes seem inspired by similar slots, and they can be extremely helpful in all stages of the game.
As can the expanding wilds feature by the way, and the mystery boxes truly shine in the super version of the bonus round. It’s too bad this feature cannot be triggered organically, as accumulating persistent mystery boxes is a lot of fun. You only get one activation in the regular bonus round though, and the 94 % RTP is a disappointment for many players.
