The original fishing-themed slot was a harbinger of the fishing slot trend, as developers saw the popularity of similar series. Wild Wild Bass 2 follows in the footsteps of the original release, which was inspired by other similar games. A few new elements have been included, and the math model has been upgraded a bit.

The game revolves around the Big Catch and Insane Catch features, and the former expands the grid as all present bass money symbols are collected. The latter is the bass money symbols collection bonus round, and it comes with a random multiplier that’s been upgraded. In addition, multiplier mystery symbols have been added, and eligible players can now purchase both features as well. The 10,000x potential is decent, and the top-tier RTP has been bumped up to a more solid 96.44 %.

Wild Wild Bass 2 Slot Features

You can turn on the Super Stake ante bet feature between any base game spin, and keeping it on means you pay double per spin. This doubles the amount of wild symbols added to the reel strips, which means a higher likelihood of triggering the Big Catch and Insane Catch features.

The fishing gear premium symbols pay between 2.5 and 15 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the Bass money symbols can only be collected in the 2 above-mentioned features. The Wild symbols will appear on reels 1 and 2 only, and wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins. In addition, landing 2 Wilds on reels 1 and 2 triggers the Big Catch feature, and the Insane Catch feature is awarded if you also land the Insane Catch free spins symbol.

The Big Catch feature triggers from 2 wilds on the two first reels, as mentioned, and this expands reels 3 to 6 with one extra position per reel. This increases the number of win ways up to 5,625, and all the cash prizes attached to the bass money symbols are collected. You can also land regular line wins during the feature, of course.

The Insane Catch symbol can land on reel 6 only, and together with 2 wilds on reels 1 and 2 it triggers the Insane Catch feature. This gives you 2 to 5 Insane Spins, and reels 1 and 2 merge to become a multiplier reel. The multiplier varies between x1 and x10 per insane spin, and the remaining grid turns into 20 independently spinning positions.

Bass money symbols are boosted by the multiplier, while insane symbols award extra spins. You can also land Mystery Symbols, and these chests open to reveal a fish prize multiplier of x2 to x5 for the current spin. From what we can gather from the paytable, it looks like the largest bass money symbol is worth 750x your stake.

There is also a Bonus Buy feature included in Wild Wild Bass 2 slot, which wasn’t the case in the original game, but this feature is not available in the UK for sure. If eligible, you can pay 100x your stake for the Insane Catch feature, or 50x your stake for the Big Catch feature.

Review Summary

The original Wild Wild Bass was already a copycat, and Wild Wild Bass 2 isn’t exactly bursting with creative spirit either. The upgrades are mystery multiplier symbols and a higher multiplier wheel range, as well as the bonus buy feature. This is appreciated, but the latter is not something players in every jurisdiction will benefit from. It should also be noted that the top-tier RTP has been increased to 96.44 %, so all in all there is no doubt that Wild Wild Bass 2 is the better option of the two.

It seems like the original game was not taken to heart, and the Super Stake benefit is still not specific enough. As having a large number of win ways isn’t really all that relevant since bass money symbols tend to act as blockers anyway, but at least larger line wins are possible. The max win is capped at 10,000x your stake though, which is decent in this genre, but nothing more either. Wild Wild Bass 2 is enjoyable enough as a standalone game, but it will be a challenge to break this series free from its copycat roots.
