Let’s play a little game, shall we? We’ll describe Wild West Duels for you, and then you can see how fast you’re able to tell which famous wild west game this release blatantly copies. The 5x5 grid is placed in a dusty town with tumbleweeds rolling around in the background, and wilds can sometimes expand for a shootout that determines the wild multiplier. It can go up to x100, at best.

The soundtrack is far from the best we’ve heard on a Western slot, and the sound effects don’t really fit the bill in our opinion. You get 3 different bonus rounds in this game, and the Duel round gives you a higher chance for the duel wild feature. The Beer round comes with sticky wilds with multipliers, and the most volatile feature is the Lost Relics round. A pick game increases both wilds and the win multiplier, and you then get 3 spins to bring in the cash.

Wild West Duels Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 5 and 20 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and you get a gold bag Wild that can appear anywhere to substitute for pay symbols and help complete or improve wins.

Wild symbols can expand to fill the whole reel at random times, and you get to see a Duel play out between two gunslingers. The winning dueler’s multiplier becomes the expanded wild multiplier, and it will be between x2 and x100. Wilds do not expand unless it creates a win.

You need 3+ Beer Game scatters in view to trigger the Beer Game Bonus Round, and it comes with 10 free spins. Beer mugs are wild in this feature, and they become sticky for the duration of the bonus round. They come with multiplier values of x2 or x3, and the multiplier values are added together if more than one wild is part of the same win. You cannot land expanding wilds in the Beer Game, and there is no retrigger.

You need at least 3 Duel scatters in view to trigger the Duel Bonus Round, and it comes with 10 free spins. You are guaranteed to land at least 1 wild in a random position per free spin, and wilds can expand to become dueling multiplier wilds in this feature. There is no way to retrigger this bonus round either.

The Lost Relics Bonus Round triggers from at least 3 lost relic scatters in view, and this gives you 3 free spins. However, before the free spins round starts, you will make 9 picks from 25 available shovels. This is how you increase the win multiplier and/or the amount of guaranteed wilds.

Each pick can award up to +5 wilds or +1, +2, +3, or +5 added to the multiplier tally. You get the accumulated amount of wilds per free spin, and the achieved multiplier boosts all wins. There are no retrigger possibilities here either, and you cannot get expanding dueling wilds.

Finally, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can purchase all 3 of the bonus rounds from the Bonus Buy menu. You can pay 100x for the Beer Game, 200x for the Duel Game, and 400x for the Lost Relics feature. The RTP does not change if you purchase either of the bonus rounds though.

Review Summary

Well, what can we say? Wild West Duels is a blatant copycat, and it comes with some strange incongruent sound effects that would suit a sci-fi release more than a hard boiled wild west installment. It lacks the stylish originality that catapulted the original into mainstream stardom as well, although the duel visuals are nicely done also in this game. Still, it cannot escape being an imitation, but at least it gives you an alternative.

The good news is that you get a far more solid 20,000x potential in this version, which may be enough to convince some players to switch to a supposedly greener pasture. The max win probability is not revealed, however, Anyway, in isolation Wild West Duels is a solid release for sure, but despite bigger guns it will have a hard time outgunning the original.
