Wild Falls 2 Review

We had to check twice just to be sure, as the original Wild Falls looks too dated to be released as late as 2019. This may explain its somewhat moderate success, but we have a feeling Wild Falls 2 is going to do something about that in a major way. The audiovisual experience is excellent in this sequel, and you get a charming banjo soundtrack that goes well together with the exciting gold rush theme.

Why the river turns purple during the random Gold Rush feature is anybody’s guess, but at least it provides multiplier wild chests up to x5. Chest trigger re-spins in the base game, which can lead directly to the River of Gold bonus round (or the super version if it triggers during a gold rush sequence). Both features go on indefinitely as long as dropping wild chests are present, and the super version comes with increasing multiplier wilds for up to 20,000x payouts.

Wild Falls 2 Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 10 and 25 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and you win by landing 3 to 5 matching symbols on a payline from the uttermost left to the right. Chest Wilds appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 only, and they step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Chests also serve double duty as scatters, and they also trigger features when they drop down on the main grid.

Wild/scatter Chests can be seen above the grid, in the river that leads to the waterfall game grid. When 1 or 2 drop down on the active game grid the Rapid Re-Spins feature is triggered. The triggering chests are sticky as the remaining positions respin, and new chests appearing on the grid expands the reels by +1 extra row up to 2 times.

The Gold Rush feature can trigger at random times, and this turns all chests into golden chests with multiplier values attached. The feature lasts for as long as the Rapid Re-Spins feature lasts, and the golden chests come with multipliers of x2, x3, x4, or x5. The multipliers can combine up to x125, however, and everything resets on the next spin.

Landing 3 chests at the same time triggers the River of Gold Bonus Round, while 3 golden chests in sight triggers the Super River of Gold Bonus Round. The super version can only be triggered during the gold rush feature in other words, and we’ll take a look at the regular bonus round first.

The River of Gold Bonus Round comes with sticky chests that move one position downwards per free spin. You can land new chests during the feature as well, and they move down until they drop off the bottom of the grid. Golden chests with up to x5 multipliers can also appear, and the bonus round goes on indefinitely as long as there are chests in view on the active grid.

The Super River of Gold Bonus Round plays out similarly to the regular bonus round. However, the big difference is that all chests are golden. The chest multipliers increase by +1 each time the chests move one position downwards, up to x9 at best. The feature goes on as long as there are golden chests on the active grid, so there are no fixed number of free spins in the super version either.

Review Summary

The banjo-infused gold rush charm has definitely been carried over from the original title, and Wild Falls 2 is a superb follow-up in pretty much all regards. The visual presentation has been modernized, and the big difference is the grid-expanding system. This might not seem like such a big deal at first glance, but expanding the grid has the major impact of prolonging both the bonus rounds and increasing the chest wild multipliers up to x9.

It can also help trigger the bonus round during the Rapid Re-Spins, as a larger grid increases your likelihood of landing the crucial 3 scatter chests you need. The gameplay is highly entertaining in all stages, and triggering re-spins is far from difficult either. The 15,000x potential is significantly boosted as well, and the expanded grid can give you combined chest wild multipliers up to x729. Wild Falls 2 is an instant classic in our view, and a game we will return to time and time again.
