Well of Wilds Megaways Review
Most Irish Luck themed slots are filled to the brim with Leprechauns and Emerald Island clichés. It’s refreshing to see an Irish-themed game where that has been toned down. Well of Wilds Megaways builds on a predecessor, but both the gameplay and the visual presentation have been upgraded in significant ways.
The animated wishing well backdrop is cleverly done, and the wild transformation feature plays a central part also in this follow-up release. The Megaways engine, combined with Cascading Reels and wild modifiers, keeps the base game interesting, while you wait to trigger the Lucky Spins round. The math model is solid, as both the RTP and the potential are on par with what you might expect from this engine.
Well of Wilds Megaways Features
You can land Lucky Coins on the 4 middle reels, and these act as wild symbols in the base game. This means that they step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos, and you also have the Well of Wilds modifier symbol that can land on the 4 middle reels. When this happens, 2 randomly chosen symbol types on the same reels are turned into wilds for the cascade that might follow.
The Cascading Reels mechanic means that winning symbols are removed, and new or existing symbols drop from above to fill the gaps. This can lead to indefinite extra wins on a single paid spin, and it’s a very common feature in Megaways engine games.
The Lucky Spins bonus round is triggered when you land at least 3 Lucky Spin scatters anywhere in sight during the same cascade. You get 9 free spins from the minimum of 3 scatters, while each extra scatter on top of that awards +3 extra spins up to 18 at the most. All wins will increase the progressive multiplier by +1, up to a maximum of x40. Any symbol type that turns wild will remain that way until the feature ends.
Lucky Coins are still wild, but they will now be collected in a meter above the reels whenever they land. You need to collect 5 to trigger the Lucky Wishes feature. The Wishing Well can then award 3 to 6 extra spins, Well of Wilds or double the current win multiplier. The Well of Wilds modifier can turn up to 3 symbol types wild for the duration of the bonus round, and up to 2 in a single trigger.
The 200 Spins Well of Wilds Megaways Experience
You get a good taste of the base game the first 1 and a half minutes, and then we trigger the Lucky Spins bonus round. We managed to rack up a very solid multiplier after a while, not least due to the Lucky Wishes feature, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The math model is solid. At least as far as Well of Wilds Megaways is concerned, cause this is a release through and through. Set in a wishing well filled with 4-leaf clovers and coins at the bottom, the somewhat understated Irish Luck theme is presented in a subtle and intriguing way.
The base game offers enough features to keep you going, but the Lucky Spins bonus round is undoubtedly the big highlight. Collecting coins that are thrown into the Wishing Well is clever, and the modifiers you get can make an impact. Doubling the multiplier can take things to a sudden new level, and extra spins and wilds are certainly helpful. The 9,997x potential is on par, and it’s rare to see a release with an RTP of 95.67 %.
