In May, a studio released Wanted Unusual Suspects, the 3rd installment of the series and first outside the big city. Our favorite Detective transforms into a Sheriff and goes to a rugged frontier town. There, with the help of his sworn deputies, he is to "uphold justice and bring notorious outlaws to heel".
The Wild West theme fits perfectly this amazing series. A sequel was released in March 2024, but both games took place in the big city, where crime is an everyday routine. The Wanted Unusual Suspects is entirely different, although some features have been kept!
The game is a Western type of adventure that includes a pursuit of a motley crew of outlaws. Only this time, these crooks can bring lots of prizes to those who spot them on the reels. The setting is a small town in the middle of nowhere with a bank on fire to the left and perhaps a saloon to the right.
The provider has included 4 fixed jackpots that can be won during all stages of the game and all the tech features you might need. Money Bag, Dynamite, Pistols, and Handcuffs are the High Pays, awarding 10x, 5x, 3x, and 2x the bet for 5-of-a-kind combinations, respectively.

Outlaw Wilds
The Exploding Wild feature from More Unusual Suspects is furtherly developed here. Now, besides the regular wilds, 4 special Outlaw Wilds can modify the grid:

- Masked Bandit - two random reels turn wild

Coins & Sticky Frames
Coins are part of the slot's core feature, and each one can carry a cash value from a predetermined table between 1x and 100x the bet. They can also carry one of the fixed jackpots displayed below. Only one of Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand can be won per feature trigger.
Coins leave sticky frames behind every time they land, and if they land on an already placed frame, its multiplier is increased by x1. The maximum multiplier per position is 5x.

Sheriff Backup Bonus
The Sheriff activates a Cash Collect feature by adding Coins to the sticky frames in view. He can also call for backup up to 2 times and increase the Collector symbols in view up to 3. Each one collects all cash values in view and awards them instantly. After the feature, all sticky frames are removed from the grid in the base game but kept for the whole duration of Free Spins.
Bonus Perk Bar
As before, this is a Symbol Collection feature and everytime you land 2 scatters in view, one Token will be added to the Bar. If you collect 50 tokes, you'll unlock an extra Perk Pick at the beginning of the bonus round. If you use it, the Bonus Perk Bar will be reset. Remember, the feature progression is saved per stake level!
Scatters Nudging Respin
If you land 2 scatters on the bottom 3 rows of the grid, the Respins feature will be triggered. The respective reels will be held and will nudge with 1 position down, while the other reels with no scatters on them will respin. If a scatter hits the bottom row or 5 scatters are in view, the feature will end. Each respin will add a Token to the Bonus Perk Bar.
Free Spins with Perk Picks and Feature Trail
Land 3, 4, or 5 scatters on the grid to trigger the bonus minigame and win 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. Before starting the feature, you can enhance it with various Perk modifiers. The picking process includes 5 outlaws holding cards:
- Free Spins Boost - unlocks the First Bandit on the Feature Trail
- More Spins - awards 2 extra free spins
- More Frames - awards 3 Sticky Frames on the board
- More Wilds - awards more wilds during the bonus

During Free Spins, the Feature Trail will collect each Sheriff in view. Each 3rd collected symbol will unlock a Bandit and will add 5 free spins. Furthermore, the win multiplier will increase up to 2x, 3x, 5x, and 10x, respectively.
When you run out of free spins, the Getaway Bonus will activate. The feature will randomly end the bonus or award an extra spin for more rewards. A Sheriff symbol is guaranteed to land during the Getaway Spin!

Our Verdict
Wanted Unusual Suspects is a nice feature-packed slot challenge that will engage all our gambling skills. The only significant flaw I can highlight is the increasing levels of volatility.
They make the gameplay more confusing in terms of regular line wins. On the other hand, the mechanics perfectly complete the bonus. In fact, that is one of the few features missing in other top Wild West slots.
They are packed with amazing modifiers, Cash Collect, and free spins with various upgrades. Yet, the Feature Trail provides more depth and options to prolong the bonus. My final verdict is positive, but I highly recommend playing with the Wanted Unusual Suspects demo before staking real money on the table!
