Volatile Vikings 2 Dream Drop Review
Relax Gaming offers another Dream Drop jackpot slot, and it's similar to the original Volatile Vikings except for the math model.
The viking pub setting is more jolly with the soundtrack, and both the 94.8 % RTP and the regular 10,000x potential has taken a significant hit compared to the first game. This is to be expected when massive progressive jackpots can be landed, but fans of the original may not like this follow-up. The core features are all the same anyway, so this one is mostly for jackpot chasers.
Volatile Vikings 2 Dream Drop Features
You win when 8 to 12+ matching symbols appear anywhere on the screen, and the premium carved wood viking symbols pay between 10 and 50 x your stake for 12+ matching symbols in view. Winning symbols explode and are replaced by a Cascade of new symbols, and this gives you indefinite extra wins per round.
You get 2 Multiplier Reveal symbols on reels 3 and 4 per spin, and each of the symbols come with random counter and multiplier values. The counter decreases in value per consecutive cascade, and the multiplier is activated when the counter reaches zero. It destroys adjacent symbols, and one of the new symbols cascading in will be another multiplier symbol. The sum of all activated multipliers will boost the total win in the end.
You win 6 free spins when you land 3 scatters in view, and you get +1 FS on top of that per extra triggering scatter above the minimum of 3. You get +1 extra spin per scatter you land during the feature, and the Bonus Round plays out similarly to the base game. The important difference is that the multiplier you build is persistent, which means that it never resets as long as the feature lasts.
The Dream Drop Jackpot Game triggers at random times before a base game spin, and it plays out on 5 new reels. DD symbols accumulate as they appear, while empty barrels are destroyed. The first reel to get filled by DD symbols awards the corresponding jackpot. The jackpot seeds at €1, €5, €100, €25,000 and €500,000, respectively. The Mega Jackpot will drop before reaching €10 million, and it’s around €6M at the time of writing.
The 200 Spins Volatile Vikings 2 Dream Drop Experience
You get a brief taste of the base game, before we trigger the Dream Drop feature around 0:41 into the 4:24-minute highlights video. The bonus round triggers around the 2-minute mark, and we got 6 starting free spins. You can see it all play out for yourself by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The only reason to play Volatile Vikings 2, as compared to the original, is to chase the Dream Drop jackpots. The chanting carved wood viking symbols are still charming, but not as haunting and mysterious as in the original game. This is also due to the more lighthearted soundtrack, which admittedly is suitable in the pub setting. The features are pretty much the same also, so there is nothing new to see really.
Of course, the math model is the biggest “problem” for players who don’t care too much about the jackpots. You get an 82.8 % RTP outside of the DD feature, as a full 12 % goes to feed the jackpots. The regular max win is sliced in half, to a still decent 10,000x, and the bonus round seems to trigger less frequently (with no buy option). If chasing the dream jackpot is your number one priority, go for it, but the original is a superior game in all other ways.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Cascading Wins & Scatter Pay system | RTP of 82.8 % outside of the DD jackpot game |
| Multiplier Reveal countdown system | 10,000x potential is half of the original game |
| Persistent multiplier in the bonus round | |
| Dream Drop Jackpot up to €10 million |
If you enjoy Volatile Vikings 2 Dream Drop you should also try:
Volatile Vikings - is the original release, and you get a more dramatic outdoors scenery and soundtrack. The multiplier reveal system is going strong with a 96.44 % RTP, and you’re more likely to crack the solid 20,000x potential when the multiplier becomes persistent in the bonus round.
Snake Arena Dream Drop - is the progressive jackpot version of the original release, and you get up to 3 wild reels via the Wild Chase feature. You get indefinite free spins as long as the growing snake keeps eating the knight, and the regular max win is 2,758x your stake.
Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop - is a DD debut release, and it’s also an action-packed follow-up adventure to the original game. The gameplay is all about clearing blocker tiles, which gives you 3 bonus round modifier options, and the regular max win is a decent 10,045x your stake.
