Undead Fortune Review

It’s well established that the developer has a “dark side”, and Undead Fortune is definitely a release that takes advantage of that. Fans of horror movies should pay attention, as this game allows you to fight all sorts of zombies and monsters via the innovative DuelReels concept. We’ve seen duels before from this developer, but the feature really comes to its right here.

You get both walking wild duel respins with multipliers, as well as expanding wild duel respins with multipliers that accumulate. More of the same is to be expected from the Curse bonus round, while the more elaborate Tomb feature comes with a few never seen before surprises. The max win is 10,000x, as usual, and this is a must try for horror fans.

Undead Fortune Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 4 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and you can also land wild symbols on any reel. These step in for pay symbols to help complete wins, and wilds pay the same as the top-tier symbol.

The Walking Duels feature triggers whenever you land a Walk VS symbol, and these are basically walking wilds that expand to cover the full reel. A random monster is revealed by the symbol, and the random multiplier is applied to the wild if the monster is defeated. The wild multiplier boosts all wins it is a part of, and multiple multiplier wilds will combine their values before the boost.

The multipliers will be between x2 and x200 for each walking wild, and you get a respin if the monster is defeated. The full-reel wild then moves one step to the left if possible, and you get a new monster duel each time. You can land new Walk VS symbols also on respins, and the process repeats as long as you have monster duel wilds present.

You can also land Expand VS symbols on reels 2 to 5, and they trigger Expanding Duels whenever they land. The symbol expands to cover the full reel as a wild, and a monster duel determines if you get to keep the random multiplier (x2 to x200) and symbol in play. If the monster is defeated, a new symbol appears as the first one moves to the left. If defeated, the new multiplier is added to the total.

The Curse bonus round triggers when you land 3 curse scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5, and this awards 10 free spins. The only difference from the base game is that you have a higher probability of landing Walk VS or Expand VS symbols (the 2 features cannot trigger at the same time in any stage of the game).

The Tomb bonus round triggers from 3 tomb scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5, and you start out with locked reels and multiplier values above each reel. Blanks or Tomb VS symbols appear, and the VS symbols trigger a monster duel. If the monster is defeated, the random multiplier value between x2 and x200 is added to the multiplier above the reel.

If the monster wins the duel, the relevant reel is locked. The feature ends when all 5 reels are locked, and the multiplier values above each reel is then summed up as your total winnings. You can unlock reels when 4 unlock symbols have appeared on a locked reel, and the golden unlock symbol unlocks all reels when it appears.

You can also land the Epic VS scatter during the Tomb round, and this turns the whole grid into a mega duel of monsters and multiplier values. If the monsters are defeated, all reel multipliers are either multiplied by x2 to x20, or they will have a random value between +25 and +200 added to their respective tallies. If the monsters win, only the reel where the triggering Epic VS scatter landed is locked.

Review Summary

It’s hard to not compare this game to the previous release from the same developer, and we have to say that we far prefer the excellent visuals from that game compared to the more regular “horror show” you get in Undead Fortune. Fans of the genre will get dreadful imagery in spades in this release though, but the horror is not as understated and potent as in the already mentioned game.

Duking it out with different monsters is entertaining though, and the DuelReels™ innovation really shines in this installment. Get the right combo of multipliers, and you can land payouts up to 10,000x your stake, and we also like that you get two different bonus rounds in so many cases from this developer. This reviewer is not really a huge horror fan, but we can’t imagine people who are not enjoying what’s on offer here.
