The golden wild symbols land on reels 2 to 5 only, and they step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combinations. Landing a stack of matching pay symbols on the first reel triggers the Lock-in Re-spins feature. The triggering stack, plus any wilds and/or matching symbols on the grid, becomes frozen in place for a respin. The Treasure Trove Re-spins bonus round is triggered when you land a stack of gold coin bags on reel 1. The reel set moves underground, into a cave filled with gold, as the regular symbols are removed while only the triggering gold bags remain frozen in place. The hold-and-win-style feature comes with a single respin life only.
You thus need to land at least one new non-blank symbol per respin to keep the feature going, and only gold bag money symbols, treasure chests collectors and blanks will land. With the release of Troll's Gold, they are fortifying their position as the “uncrowned king” of hold & win style games. It’s far from being as massive and intricate as their mega hit, Money Train 2, but you get well-balanced gameplay combined with a solid math model. Multiplying Wild multipliers can lead to 1,215x payouts in the base game, and the occasional Lock-in Re-Spins feature is also a welcome break from the grind.
