Treasures of Kongar transports players to a jungle ruled by a fearsome king, Kongar, a mighty giant ape. Ruled by his iron will and guarded by venomous creatures and ferocious predators, the domain hides the fabled Heart of the Jungle, a gemstone said to grant unimaginable power. This treasure holds the potential to elevate Kongar to divine status, or to make you rich, and that pretty much sets the stage for the slot. But is the journey worth the peril? The game takes you to a 5-reel setup, with 4 rows and a compelling 1,024 ways to score wins. The symbols here pay from left to right when 3 or more of the same kind land on adjacent reels, or 2 when it comes to Kongar. The ape is the most valuable out of all symbols, paying 4x your bet for five-of-a-kind, and even more during the features, which is covered further in the corresponding section. Others are worth from 0.3x to 3x your bet for combinations of five.

The game accepts bets from as little as €0.1 and up to €100 per spin, which should suit most. The volatility is in the medium-to-high range, meaning it’s not that brutal and wins should occur more or less frequently. However, this doesn’t apply to the features, namely free spins, which, during my test, popped up only once in around 1,000 spins. And that with the best available RTP.

Speaking of, there are five different settings that you may encounter, with 96.2% being the highest. A solid value, above the average, but others aren’t that impressive. There are two types of Wild symbols to be found in Treasures of Kongar. The first is a Gemstone, the one mentioned in the intro, the Heart of the Jungle, available only in the base game, and the other is Kongar Coin, which can land only during the features.

Kongar Coins

Whenever a Gemstone hits, Kongar overlooking the reels from above collects it. At random upon the collection, the monkey king might bless you with some extra Wilds to produce bigger winning opportunities. Up to 3 Kongar Coins might be added to random positions on the reels, and they may also reveal multipliers of 2x or 3x. These multipliers are gathered and then applied to the total win of that spin.

Additionally, Kongar pay symbols are upgraded during the feature, offering bigger prizes for combos. The values are 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x the stake for combinations of 2, 3, 4, or 5 symbols respectively.

Long story short, it’s a damn well-looking game. The jungle setting in Treasures of Kongar bursts to life with stunning visuals and impeccable attention to detail. The graphics are nothing short of spectacular, with vibrant colors, smooth animations, and intricately designed symbols.

Our Verdict

In the end, Treasures of Kongar left me with mixed feelings. It’s undeniably a nice game - nowhere near disappointing, but not quite the masterpiece. The visuals are breathtaking, with every detail of the jungle and its inhabitants looking as good as possible. The gameplay, too, is simple yet engaging, and the max win potential of 15,000x the stake is undoubtedly impressive. However, the way things play out might really test your patience.

The elusive free spins feature was a real challenge to trigger during my session. It took me what felt like an eternity - I was actually spinning for over an hour before I eventually landed those sacred three Scatter symbols. And while the Kongar Coins are relatively frequent, the multipliers are not and feel as elusive as the free spins. Most of the time, I was left with just plain Wilds with no multiplier values attached. Yeah, sure, helpful, but not quite what I was hoping for.

Treasures of Kongar is an okay slot. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Might be worth a try, but set your expectations accordingly.
