Transylvania Night of Blood Review

It’s a bit surprising that a developer has released another vampire/horror slot so close after a similar release. Perhaps it’s an attempt to coattail on the success of the previous release, who knows. Either way, Transylvania Night of Blood is a pretty solid installment in the horror genre, and it comes with both vampire bite and werewolf scratch modifiers. Both can make a dent in the base game, but even more so in their dedicated bonus rounds.

Audiovisually, this is not the scariest horror slot out there, and the 6x4 grid with 4,096 win ways is set in the streets of a foggy town. The Vampire and Werewolf modifiers provide random wilds or ways multipliers, and they combine forces in the top-tier Battle Bonus Round. You can even get both at the same time, and payouts up to a solid 7,439x your stake is possible in all stages of the game. We had a pretty good time testing this release.

Transylvania Night of Blood Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 3 to 8 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the game comes with Wilds that appear via the bonus feature we’ll describe below. The core function of the wilds is to substitute for pay symbols to help complete wins, and wilds hold no value of their own in this game.

You can get between 2 to 10 Vampire Bites when the reels are spinning, and this happens at random times. The bites appear on the 4 middle reels only, and all bitten pay symbols turn into wild symbols. As mentioned above, wild symbols step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve winning combinations.

The Werewolf Scratch feature will also trigger at random times when the reels are in motion, and between 2 to 10 positions on any reel may be scratched. The scratched symbols are upgraded with a random ways multiplier of x2 to x10. The ways multiplier number indicates the number of symbols that becomes part of the win calculation, and the two modifiers cannot trigger at the same time in the base game.

The Vampires Scatter comes in size 1x4, and it can appear on reels 1 and 6 only. You need to land both at the same time on the first and last reel to trigger the Vampire Spins Bonus Round, and this awards 7 free spins. You can expect more frequent Vampire Bite triggers in this bonus round.

The Werewolf Spins Bonus Round also triggers from 1x4 sized scatters that appear on reels 1 and 6 at the same time. You get 7 free spins in this feature as well, and you can expect a higher hit rate of the Werewolf Scratch feature during this bonus round.

You need a Werewolf scatter at the same time as a Vampire scatter (reels 1 and 6) to trigger the Battle Spins Bonus Round. Once again, you get 7 free spins, and you now get both the Vampire Bites and the Werewolf Scratch modifiers at a higher rate than in the base game. In addition, the two modifiers can now trigger at the same time. You cannot retrigger any of the features, nor get extra spins in any way.

Review Summary

If Transylvania Night of Blood wasn’t released hot on the heels of a similar excellent release, it would perhaps have made an even stronger impression. It’s not the spookiest horror slot we’ve seen, but you get to enter a dark and somewhat sinister world nonetheless. We like the symmetry of the game, as you get a taste of the modifiers in the base game, and then 2 bonus rounds dedicated to each of them.

The big climax is when both the werewolf and the vampire modifiers combine in the Battle Spins feature, and you can then get both wilds and ways multipliers at the same time. The 7,439x potential is solid for this developer though.
