Torii Tumble Review

A Torii is a Japanese gate that symbolizes the transition from the mundane to the sacred, and a blood red example of such a gate frames the 6x6 grid in Torii Tumble. It’s set against a forest consisting of large bomboos, and the theme seems to revolve around a Samurai warrior taking on his demon side in what amounts to a spiritual battle. It’s all accompanied by classical Japanese music, and fans of the tumble series will probably be pleased.

Torii Tumble comes with a similar mechanic multiplier ladder system, but the big difference is that you can upgrade the multiplier in several different ways. Clearing the grid doubles all the multiplier values, for example, and special symbols can upgrade the values as well as prolonging your winning streak. The multipliers are doubled from the start when you enter the bonus round, and it comes with 3 FS mode choices. Torii Tumble is a solid installment in the tumble series, and you can win up to 20,000x your stake.

Torii Tumble Slot Features

The 2 premium character symbols pay 0.6 or 1 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, while the mid-level mask symbols all pay 0.4x your stake for the same. Golden ‘W’ Wild symbols can appear on all reels except the leftmost reel, and they step in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve wins. The multiplier ladder doubles in value if you manage to clear the grid completely, and you can also land 2 different special stone symbols that work as follows:

• Multiplier Booster (red stone) - increases all multiplier ladder values by +1, +2, or +3 when destroyed due to being adjacent to winning symbols.
• Spin Saver (green stone) - awards an extra life when destroyed due to being adjacent to winning symbols. It removes all pay symbols when you land a non-winning tumble, which gives you another chance to continue the winning streak.

The Torii Tumble Bonus Round triggers from 3+ scatters anywhere in view in the same tumble sequence. You get a minimum of 8 free spins, and +1 additional free spin per additional triggering scatter above the minimum of 3. Blue stone symbols award 1 to 3 extra spins when destroyed due to being adjacent to winning symbols, and the multiplier ladder values are carried over into the bonus round.

The multiplier values are then doubled for the duration of the bonus round, and they are doubled again each time you clear the grid completely. This also gives you +3 extra spins, and there are 3 different bonus round modes to choose from in Torii Tumble slot:

• Multiplier Mode - special stone symbols award +1, +2, or +3 added to all multiplier ladder values, as well as extra spins.
• Spin Saver Mode - awards Spin Savers and extra spins from special stone symbols.

Well, Torii Tumble definitely sticks out from the previous Tumble installments , and the dark bamboo forest backdrop creates a special atmosphere combined with the blood red Torii that frames the grid. The style multiplier system has been taken to the next level in this release, as it can be upgraded in different ways. This makes the feature all the more exciting, and the 2 special symbols come in handy as well.

The spin saver can keep your winning streak going, while the multiplier booster upgrades all multiplier values. Clear the grid to double the values, and they are doubled by default when the bonus round triggers. The mixed FS mode is the best allrounder choice in our opinion, and we have no complaints about the 20,000x potential either. Torii Tumble is a well-balanced installment in the mechanic genre, and it doesn’t really come across as a copycat effort since so many upgrades and extras have been thrown into the mix.
