Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge Review
It all started with a milestone release, which has developed into a sub-series within their impressive selection of bloody and brutal Wild West slot games. You can check the more recent and revamped Tombstone No Mercy for enhanced visuals, features, and potential, or the far more grotesque follow-up Tombstone RIP for a potential that’s almost in the same ballpark as that of Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge.
Apparently, El Gordo has been murdered in a humiliating way before the story of this game plays out, and his daughter, Miss Gordo, is not taking it too well. She’s leaving a trail of blood and burned-down frontier towns in her path, seeking her revenge in brutal ways that match the game’s volatility (rated 12 out of 10 (no joke!)). You can play with bet levels ranging from €0.1 to €100 per spin, catering to all types of players. Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge plays out on a 2-3-3-3-3-2 grid placed in the main street of a small town with dead horses lying around in the background.
Clearly, a massacre has already occurred, with ominous smoke drifting past the grid. The soundtrack spells doom as well, with some gritty characters taking center stage on the reels. Don’t forget to click the mouse at these characters to see what happens, which is an appreciated “easter egg”. Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge slot has 324 default win ways, which can be increased via different modifiers, with the rightmost reel landing Revolver or Character symbols only.
The 96.01 % top-tier RTP is around the industry average, but keep in mind that lower RTP settings are a possibility depending on the casino. Miss Gordo is the highest-paying symbol, followed by an Indian, a long-beared man, a grey-beared man, and a mean-looking lady. Landing 6-of-a-kind wins award between 1.5x and 3x your stake for the character symbols, and 1x to 1.2x for the royals. You can trigger 2 different Bonus Rounds in this game, with the top-tier Massacre feature giving you the best shot at the impressive 500,000x max win by far.
Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge Features
Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge is loaded with plenty of features, with a stacked Revolver Wild landing fully in view to award different modifiers. You also have 2 bonus rounds to look forward to, and we’ll explain how everything works below.
xNudge Wilds
The Xnudge Wild nudges fully in place to cover full reels whenever it appears, each nudge increasing its multiplier by +1. If more than one is part of a win, the multipliers are added together before being applied and you can land xNudge Wilds on reels 2 to 5 only.
xRIP
If you win less than your stake in any stage of the game, the win is forfeited thanks to the xRip feature.
Slaughter Scatter & Reel Split Wilds
The Slaughter Scatter can land on reels 2 to 5, and you need 2 in view to trigger the Reel Split Wilds feature. This turns the scatters into wilds that split themselves and all symbols on the same reel, increasing the number of win ways accordingly.
Revolver Wild & Cylinder Modifiers
The Revolver Wild appears as a stacked symbol on reel 6 in all stages of the game, and when it fills the entire reel you get 3 to 6 Cylinder modifiers:
- Backstab Wild - turns a random symbol wild on reels 2 to 5.
- Shootout Wild - turns all instances of a random symbol type wild on reels 2-5.
- xSplit - splits a randomly chosen symbol on reels 2-5 (doubles the xNudge multiplier if affected).
- Infectious xSplit - splits all instances of a chosen symbol on reels 2 to 5.
- Justice Wild - turns a randomly selected character symbol into an xNudge wild that nudges to fill the whole reel.
- Boothill Multiplier - adds a multiplier between x5 and x999 to a random character symbol.
Slaughter Spins
You need 3 Slaughter scatters in view to trigger the Slaughter Spins Bonus Round, with 5 free spins being awarded as you start. You get a character symbol with a multiplier between x5 and x99 on reel 6 on each spin, or the Revolver symbol. The Revolver comes with extra modifiers during this feature, in addition to the ones we’ve already covered:
- Killcount Multiplier - adds +1 to +89 to the multiplier meter.
- Revenge Level Up - upgrades the Revenge Meter to the next tier.
If you trigger the Slaughter Spins Bonus Round with 4 scatters, you still get 5 free spins, but with 2 pre-filled spots on the Revenge Meter. If you land a Revolver on reel 6, the remaining free spins are upgraded to the Massacre Spins Bonus Round with +2 extra spins added.
The El Gordo's Revenge Meter starts at level 1 if you trigger the bonus with 3 scatters, and it goes up to level 5 either way. The xNudge starting multiplier corresponds to the revenge level, with bonus symbols landing on reels 2-5 to award +1 extra spin, adding +1 to the revenge meter, and increasing the multiplier for future levels by +1. The revenge meter upgrades to the next level for every 4 bonus symbols that land.
Massacre Spins
You need 3 Slaughter scatters and 1 Revolver symbol to land on the same spin to trigger the Massacre Spins Bonus Round, awarding 5 free spins. You then get all the features from the Slaughter Spins Bonus Round, with the Revolver Symbol being sticky on reel 6. If you trigger the feature with 4 scatters, 2 spots on the Revenge Meter are pre-filled, and the xNudge multiplier is upgraded according to each revenge level.

Theme & Graphics
As the title and splash screen indicates, Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge is a good old-fashioned Wild West revenge story. El Gordo’s daughter is on the warpath after her father was brutally killed and humiliated, and armed with two six-shooters, she’s burning everything in her way to the ground. The reels are set against the bleak backdrop of a frontier town, and bullets are flying as Miss Gordo exacts her revenge on the character symbols.

Our Verdict
While not the strongest entry in the Wild West genre, the original Tombstone still made the provider stand out, showcasing their potential. It’s also one of few games they’ve turned into a series, with the enhanced Tombstone No Mercy as a notable installment in addition to the far more shocking and brutal Tombstone RIP. Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge is clearly an attempt to take things to a whole new level. However, despite the massive 500,000x potential, this game did not quite come across as the epic tale of revenge it sets out to be.
The backstory of El Gordo’s public humiliation and murder adds depth to the gameplay for sure, and his revenge-hungry daughter looks bloodthirsty enough with the whole town burning down behind her on the splash screen. However, compared to the shock effect and unique artwork of Tombstone RIP, a game focused on public hanging, Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge feels like somewhat of a cliché. The revenge story is hardly original, and the same can be said about the visual presentation.
Don’t get me wrong, Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge is miles above the average slot being released every month, but it’s hard to not compare this game with all the other gritty Wild West releases we’ve seen over the years. The revolver cylinder spinning and adding different modifiers did not really do it for me, and I would’ve preferred Miss Gordo peppering the grid with bullets instead. I get that this is a visual effect we’ve seen in previous installments, but something more exciting than a spinning cylinder would’ve been appreciated.
While this cylinder can deliver plenty of different modifiers, the effectiveness of these features is another story. Of course, this has more to do with the extreme volatility of this game, which can rip your guts out on a bad day and reward you handsomely when luck is on your side. There is also a massive discrepancy between the two bonus round tiers, as revealed by the huge difference in the bonus buy price tag. I’m sure high-rollers and streamers will appreciate this release, but I prefer Tombstone RIP over this one myself.
