Review
This game brings a familiar character to the megaways world. A lot of anticipation was built up for this release. Usually, a dose of megaways features entails that all departments of the game have been beefed up. However, this is not entirely the case with this slot.
It’s not an easy task to surpass the original game when it comes to bonus features. Instead, the game has decided to play it somewhat safe with their Megaways version. The animated character is mostly sitting to the side, and his vocabulary of jibes and witty remarks is limited compared to the first game. He only springs to life once in a while to fire his gun, which gives you mystery symbols, but other than that he’s fairly passive here.
This might disappoint fans of the original game, as we can imagine that many expected perhaps more antics from the megaways version, not far less. The bonus round is really the only thing that saves the day here, as it comes with a high potential. However, casual players and fans of the movie should probably stick to the original game, as it’s far more entertaining than this rather formulaic megaways version.
What are the bonus features?
It’s a bit unusual that the megaways version of a game is toning things down when it comes to the bonus features, but this is what has been done with this slot. Instead of overwhelming you with features like the original game did, the game has gone back to the basics with this one. It comes with fairly standard megaways engine features that you’ll be familiar with from other titles.
The cascading wins feature makes sure that winning symbols are removed from the reels, and new symbols will drop down from above. This gives you new potential winning chances every time you win, and prolongs each winning streak without any extra expenses on your part. The process only stops when you do not land a winning combination anymore.
You can also land Mystery symbols randomly at any given spin here, and you’ll then see the animated character fire at the reels with his ray gun. This adds up lightning bolt mystery symbols to reelstrips for the next spin, and these symbols transform into matching symbols whenever they land. This can lead to a new payout calculation if you win, and prolong your cascading wins at least one more round.
Free spins
You need to land at least 4 scatters on the same spin to trigger the Free Spins bonus round in this game. This feat will grant you free spins to start out with. Before the bonus round starts however, you have a chance to gamble for more spins and a minimum megaways limit. This is done via a Wheel of Fortune, and it’s totally optional.
The downside is that you risk getting less than the spins you already have in your pocket, so this gamble feature might not be the best of ideas. You’ll benefit from a progressive win multiplier that increases with +1 for every win/cascade, and it does not reset on non-winning spins either. There is no upper limit to this multiplier, and this is why it’s called an Unlimited Win Multiplier.
There is a symbol meter, and you will collect symbols into this meter every time you land one one the reels. When you have collected symbols, you get extra spins added to your tally. In addition, you will climb up the minimum guaranteed megaways scale. Going all the way to the top will make sure that you’ll benefit from the maximum number of ways to win on every single free spin.
You can also opt to buy the bonus round via the Mystery bonus bet feature, but this may not be available for certain players. You will then get to spin the Thunder Wheel for a cost of your stake, and a random number of spins and minimum megaways are awarded to you via this bonus wheel.
How to play
If you’re familiar with the game interface and their previous megaways engine games, you will have no problem getting right into the swing of things. Players with less experience might benefit from reading this section somewhat thoroughly, while experienced punters might wanna skip to the next part.
The game comes with 6 regular reels and 1 horizontal top reel. The regular reels can land with between 2 and 7 symbols on every spin. If all 6 reels land with 7 symbols, you will play with the maximum number of paylines. The horizontal top reel always loads in 4 symbols however, and it effectively adds an extra symbol to reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
The wild symbol can only land on the horizontal top reel, and he will step in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos. You win by landing at least 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, and you can win with more than one set of symbols on each spin. Click the bank note symbol to set your bet level.
You can then check out the paytable via the button above the spin button. The symbol values display how much you win per total stake, and the logo symbol is the highest paying symbol in the game by far. It will give you a multiplier of your stake for 6 on a payline, while the second most valuable symbol pays much less.
You can scroll through the paytable to read about the bonus features, and you can then set up the autoplay feature if you want. This is done via the circular arrow button below the spin button, and you can choose between 10 and 100 autospins. You can also set a win and loss limit here, to stop the feature as you see fit. That’s it really, you are now ready to join your favorite teddy bear on his latest megaways adventure.
Where to play?
Any new game is bound to make some waves in the community. You will have no problem finding plenty of places that carry this title, and here we shall take a look at what options you have when it comes to playing this game. You already know enough about how to play, so here we’ll focus on how to go about getting started.
Play for real money
Anyone who’s familiar with typical Megaways setup will know pretty quickly what this game is all about. You will have no trouble getting started with real money play right away, as there really isn’t all that much new stuff to learn here.
Play free demo version
If you are brand new to the megaways engine, or to the game franchise, you might wanna play it a bit safe at first. Many players prefer to check out the free demo version of a new game either way, just to make sure they like the game they will be spending time and money on. If you fall into this category we totally understand.
The Experience
We are huge fans of the original game. We therefore had high hopes when we learned that the Megaways version was on the way. We could hardly wait to get started.
We immediately noticed that a lot less is happening in the base game here, compared to the original medium variance slot. This is a highly volatile game, and the base game will offer up plenty of dead spins and smaller wins. It’s easy to miss all the fun antics and features from the first game, but it helps to remind yourself that you’re dealing with a completely different math model here.
You therefore need to get into this game with a very different mindset. If you just want to have fun, go for the original game, as this version is aimed at more serious gamblers.
After a few cascades, we landed the 4th scatter we needed, and the bonus round was finally on with spins. After a few dead spins we landed 5 cascades in a row. This helped boost up the multiplier, but we still won only a small amount. We then upgraded the megaways and got extra spins when we landed our third collectable symbol.
A moment later, the character stepped in and fired his zap gun, and this gave us mystery symbols added to the reelstrips. We landed only a few of them on the next spin however, and they turned into the low value symbol. We got a few okay wins towards the end, due to the multiplier we’d manage to rack up, but won very little. Not exactly a mega win, but this is how it can go with high risk/reward games like this.
Review Summary
We are a bit surprised that number of features was reduced so drastically from the original game. We get that they want it to fit into their for megaways engine games, but a game is all about his antics and jibes, and there is significantly less of that here too. What you get is really just similar to other games which is a bit disappointing.
The game could have easily made this game unique and more fans friendly by adding, for example, random features to the base game. This would have made the base game less of a grind also. Now you get only the standard cascading reels and mystery symbols. At least the bonus round is solid enough, however, with the possibility of high payouts. As a standalone effort it is a good enough game, but it still feels a bit like a missed opportunity that lacks the charm and amusement of the first game in the series.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Cascading wins and mystery symbols | Similar to other games |
| Free spins with unlimited progressive multiplier | Lacking in antics, charm and features |
| Upgradable megaways guarantee in bonus round | |
| High volatility and high max win potential |

Since this is a fairly standard and streamlined megaways engine game, you can find many similar games to play out there.
- is very similar to the game at hand in terms of bonus features and math model, but naturally the theme is different. You will benefit from cascading wins and mystery symbols in the base game, as well as a bonus round with unlimited progressive multiplier and symbol collection to increase the megaways and get extra spins.
- is really a must try game if you’ve only played the megaways version. This is the first game in the branded series, and it comes jam packed with 3D animated antics and bonus features. There are a total of reel modifying features that will trigger at random times here, as well as bonus features which includes different free spin rounds.
- is really similar to the original game we just talked about, but with the added benefit of different jackpots. This game is part of a Jackpot network. A good option if you want the extra excitement the jackpots deliver, but keep in mind that the RTP has been lowered a bit to feed said jackpots.
