Sweet Delights Review
If you're on a strict diet, or trying to avoid too much candy, this new game might not be for you. However, if you enjoy a sugary treat now and then, this release inspired by similar games might be right up your alley.
Set against a blurred-out candy world, this mobile-friendly game features cascading wins on a cluster pays 6x5 grid. Bubbles float up regularly to award wilds and multipliers, and this feature is even more frequent in the bonus round. This release's inspiration is perhaps a bit too obvious.
Sweet Delights Game Features
The Cluster Pays engine requires you to match 5 to 15+ symbols in the same cluster anywhere on the 6x5 grid to win. The symbols pay between 20 and 60 x your stake for 15+ in a cluster, and all winning symbols are removed via the Cascading mechanic. New and/or existing symbols then drop down to fill the gaps, and this repeats as long as you keep winning. Wild symbols substitute for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combos, but have no value of their own.
Bubbles will float up at random times, and these then burst over a random position on the grid. This is called the Bubble Boosters feature, and the different size bubbles award wilds and/or overlaying multipliers to the relevant positions. You will get between 1 and 5 bubbles when the feature triggers, and they come in sizes 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3.
The bubbles can land partially in view also, and they can award up to 9 feature symbols at best. The Multipliers between x2 to x100 are added together if more than one land in the same winning cluster, and your payout is then boosted accordingly.
A candy thieving Monster Hand will trigger at random times too, and it removes a fair amount of symbols from the grid. It removes all symbols from the first or last 3 columns, or everything altogether. Overlay multipliers and wilds are not removed however, and this triggers a new cascade.
The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3 scatters anywhere in view, and you’ll then see each scatter turn into a random number. The sum of the numbers becomes your awarded amount of free spins, and you always get between 6 and 15 spins this way. You win extra spins by landing at least 1 scatter anywhere, and the feature comes with more frequent Bubble Booster triggers.
Non-UK players, and anyone living in an eligible jurisdiction, can purchase the bonus round directly for 129x the stake. This awards 3 scatters on the spin that follows, and you will then get between 6 and 15 free spins for starters.
The Gameplay Experience
Nothing overly exciting happened for us in the base game, but we've still included 1 minute of it in our highlights video. We then purchase the bonus round, and we got plenty of wild bubbles. You can see for yourself how we fared by watching the video.
Review Summary
While the visual style might be similar to other candy-themed games, the Bubble Boosters mechanic is enjoyable and awards plenty of wilds.
Getting multipliers wasn't all that easy, even in the bonus round, but they can make a significant impact when they do appear. Perhaps making them multiplier wilds would have been even more exciting. It makes for the usual highly unpredictable gameplay, and payouts up to 10,000x your stake can appear unexpectedly.
