This game might be from a studio trying to make a name for itself. It does have some fancy ideas, and we’re therefore happy to review it. With Sunset Hotline, we’re getting an incredibly atmospheric game, and it takes place on an unorthodox playing field with 4 reels, 3 rows and 81 ways to win.

The atmosphere of Sunset Hotline draws from its theme, which is all about neony visuals and retro graphics. It’s not particularly original, true, but the designers invested a lot of effort into making everything feel really good - and it shows! The bottom line is that Sunset Hotline is undoubtedly one of the most atmospheric neony games out there right now, and that’s something that we most definitely don’t say lightly.

Unfortunately, we aren’t quite as excited about the game’s mathematical model, since its theoretical RTP is quite poor at just 93.99%. Aside from that, we can tell you that the game’s volatility is medium, though we don’t have any reliable info about its jackpot.

There are 7 pay symbols in Sunset Hotline, and they are all well-designed and fit the game’s theme nicely. For low pays, there are three card ranks, lemons, and melons, and it’s worth noting that you have to line up 4 matching symbols on one of the game’s paylines in order to get a win. The low pays can then net you up to 2x your bet, while things get much better with the high pays that show diamonds and sevens. Those symbols are worth 10x your bet for a combination, which is quite solid.

For specials, there are Wild symbols, and those can not only substitute for other symbols in order to complete winning combos, but also bring you wins on their own. If you find a set of Wilds, you’ll walk away with as much as 150x your bet!

The only real gameplay feature in Sunset Hotline is the Cashback bonus, which can show up at random and give you a coin win out of the blue. That’s pleasant, of course, but it’s hardly enough to make the gameplay interesting.

Aside from that, you can try to boost your payouts with the Gamble feature, which has the form of a minigame that revolves around guessing the color of a face-down card. A right guess will double your payout, while a wrong one will leave you empty-handed.

Truth be told, Sunset Hotline is an online game with one huge plus and one huge minus, while the rest of it is just unexciting. The huge plus, of course, is its immense atmosphere, while the huge minus is its awful RTP that’s less than 94%. There’s hardly anything to be said about the game’s gameplay, then, as it’s just completely basic and straightforward. Given all that, it’s hard to recommend Sunset Hotline overall, though you might want to try its demo if you’re into atmospheric games.
