Our Verdict
I was pleasantly surprised when I first loaded Sugar Rush Fever for my test session. Having recently played my fair share of overly sugar-laden games, I was relieved to find something different than expected. The trippy, dreamlike atmosphere is intriguing, but it does make you wonder what was thinking when creating this. Why is this lady floating above the grid looking like she ate candy laced with LSD? Why does she wear a strange helmet on the splash screen? And why does she get upgraded with sunglasses after a larger bonus round win? It’s all a bit of a mystery, but fascinating nonetheless.
While the gameplay itself isn't groundbreaking, Sugar Rush Fever offers a decent set of features with the potential for okay payouts. The pace is engaging enough, especially with the turbo mode activated, and the instant Rush Fever prizes keep things interesting in the base game. The Jackpot Pick Deluxe game triggered fairly often in my experience, creating anticipation for a bigger win. However, although I managed to reveal 2 instances of the top two prizes, I ultimately ended up with the smallest jackpot each time.
Still, the random jackpot game is a decent motivator to keep you going, especially knowing that the Rush Fever prizes are doubled in the bonus round. The removal of the low-paying royal symbols during free spins is an okay touch as well, creating more space for Rush Fever symbols and potentially larger wins. The game's math model is overall sound, with an RTP above the industry average and a decent 4,544x win cap.
At least Sugar Rush Fever stands out from the massive crowd of Sweet Bonanza clones, something we couldn’t say about recent Gummy Giga Match.
