This is the 4th game about the legendary slave army leader. We had our hopes up for this release. The original title was also pretty good, and there has been an attempt to revamp that version here.
The expanding/contracting dual reel set dynamic can be annoying, and all the wild features can be a bit confusing. The highest value male and female warrior symbols land stacked, but they pay only 1x and 0.75x, respectively. This means that you will need solid multiplier wilds to land bigger wins in this game, something that’s most likely to happen in the bonus round.
Spartacus Super Colossal Reels Features
There is no lack of features in this game, and we’ll start with all the different wilds. You have a regular game logo wild, as well as a gold version. These will step in for all regular symbols, and you also have 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x and 25x multiplier wilds that can land on reel 5 on the Colossal Reel set.
When you land a full stack of either of the game logo wilds on the regular reel set, they will be transferred over to the corresponding reel on the Colossal reel set. If the transferred wilds overlay a Colosseum scatter symbol, it will count as both a wild and a scatter.
When the golden logo wild is transferred as described above, you will be granted a Golden Wild Respin. The golden wild stack (or stacks) become sticky, and the remaining reels respin. If you land a new stack of golden wilds the process continues, and you can get up to 9 respins this way.
Hang in there, as we are not quite through with the wilds yet. Both of the logo wilds can land as mega wilds, and these are 2 symbols wide on the regular reel set. They can land on reels 1 to 4 only, and the mega wilds can also land in stacks that trigger the wild transfer feature.
Finally, we have arrived at the bonus round. You need at least 3 Colosseum scatters anywhere to trigger the free spins feature. The good news is that the 3 necessary scatters can land across both reel sets, and this is what you get:
- 3 scatters gives you 10 free spins and a 2x scatter win
- 4 scatters gives you 15 free spins and a 5x scatter win
- 5 scatters gives you 20 free spins and a 20x scatter win
You can land 50x and 100x multiplier wilds in the bonus round, and all wilds that land will expand to cover the entire reel. This means that all wilds that land on the regular reel set will be transferred to the colossal reel set. You can retrigger the bonus round up to 10 times, which can give you up to 220 free spins at the very most.

Review Summary
Just like the original game, Spartacus Super Colossal Reels also comes with a duel reel engine. However, the way the active reel set expands, while the inactive one contracts, is rather annoying. It makes you dizzy to have to refocus your eyes all the time. Some players might handle this better, but this nuisance is enough to render this game unplayable for some.
The Wild Transfer feature is at the core of things in this follow-up title also, but things have been “complicated” by adding different types of wilds. You can win up to £250,000 in this volatile game, which is a solid potential. However, you really do need multipliers to make a dent in this game, as the regular symbols pay 1x, or less, for 5 on a payline.
