Snow Slingers Review
The creators have presented a holiday-themed slot, Snow Slingers. This festive release shares similarities with a previous title. Instead of a harsh environment, you'll be throwing snowballs in a winter scene, complete with cheering penguins. Despite the cheerful music and characters, this holiday reskin offers engaging gameplay.
Snow Slingers offers a range of bets. Wins occur when you land matching symbols on the paylines, and with a boosted hit rate, winning combinations appear more often. The premium symbols, like bells, trees, stockings, bears, and candy canes, award payouts for matching combinations.
The game's excitement increases with the appearance of Snow-volver symbols. These symbols throw snowballs onto the grid, creating upgradable wilds and multiplier wilds. In the You Reap What You Snow bonus round, multiplier wilds remain sticky, enhancing multiplier upgrades.
Snow Slingers also features the Throw Snow! Bonus, a hold-and-win style feature with sticky prize symbols and collector symbols that can be upgraded. Both bonus rounds offer the chance to reach the max win. However, Snow Slingers provides a less intense medium volatility, a high RTP, and more frequent wins.
Snow Slingers Features
While the features might be familiar, the theme gives them a unique feel. Let's see how it works!
Snow-volver Symbols
Snow-volver symbols land with snowballs, thrown onto random positions. Each hit position turns Wild initially, then upgrades with a multiplier. The multiplier increases if the wild is hit by more snowballs. Wilds substitute for pay symbols, and multiplier wilds boost any win they are part of.
The Epic Snow-volver symbol turns positions into multiplier wilds initially, and it acts before the regular Snow-volver symbols. Both types become wild after releasing their snowballs, and all snowball wild multipliers combine when part of the same win.
Throw Snow! Free Spins
The Throw Snow! Bonus Round triggers from FS scatters. Only blanks, snow-volver, and reload symbols appear during this feature. The free spins reset when you land a non-blank symbol, and the feature ends when you run out of respins or fill the grid.
Snow-volver symbols throw snowballs at Gift Boxes above, revealing a value. This value is either increased or multiplied by the revealed gift box value. The additive values range, while the multiplier values range. All regular Snow-volver symbols are sticky, while Epic Snow-volver symbols add their value to all sticky Snow-volver symbols before being removed.
Reload symbols are also sticky, triggering their modifier after the regular snow-volvers. This symbol collects the multiplier value from all regular snow-volvers, reloading the snow-volvers with snowballs. The snowballs are then thrown at the gift boxes. All symbol multiplier values are summed up and awarded when the bonus round ends.
You Reap What You Snow
This Bonus Round triggers from FS scatters, awarding free spins. It plays out like the base game, with the key difference that all multiplier wilds are sticky for the bonus duration. You win extra free spins from FS scatters.

Our Verdict
The theme makes a big difference. Snow Slingers somehow makes that clear. The two themes are far apart, with the original gunslinger replaced by penguin characters. The creators avoided typical clichés, keeping things more subtle.
The core mechanic delivers base game wins, but feels less impactful thanks to the visuals. The math model is significantly less intense. Going from high to medium volatility makes a difference, and the increased hit rate adds to that. These are wise decisions for a holiday makeover, as many players want to enjoy themselves instead of risking too much.
The animations are charming, but it would be better if the penguin characters were more involved. They just stand there moving, instead of engaging in the snowball war. The gunslinger is active in firing bullets in the original game, and not having the penguins slinging snowballs feels like a missed opportunity. This is understandable, given that this game will not be played year-round.
That being said, both bonus rounds are engaging, but there is less of an edge in this Xmas version. The max win has been lowered, which is still solid enough, making Snow Slingers more forgiving. All in all, the creators have delivered an alternative for the Holiday season, and it’s worth checking out.
