This release takes you on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with its Pixel art style. The retro 8-bit audiovisuals are nicely done. You need to be of a certain age to get that appeal however, and we’re unsure what younger audiences will think of this release.

The reels are set in a medieval castle, with dragons, elixirs and the wizard himself figuring on the reels as premium symbols. These pay between 5x and 8x your stake for 5-oak, and the base game dishes out random prizes (or the bonus round) when you least expect it. A lot is decided up front however, as you’ll need to be lucky with the symbol-to-wild transformation to stand a chance at cracking the potential.

There is something about this game that evokes similar feelings as classic adventure games, and we also love the 8-bit soundtrack and sound effects. So far, so good, in other words, but the gameplay itself, and the features, is another question entirely.

The base game is barebones except for the randomly triggered Secrets Uncovered feature, and it’s a bit lame that you don’t know how big the random prize you can win actually is. The bonus round is decent enough, and especially if you get some wild multiplier action going, but it’s hardly anything special. The potential is solid for a medium volatile game, but we’re unsure if the nostalgic appeal is enough for players to return to this game.
