Secrets Of The Sorcerer Review
This release takes you on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with its Pixel art style. The retro 8-bit audiovisuals are nicely done. You need to be of a certain age to get that appeal however, and we’re unsure what younger audiences will think of this release.
The reels are set in a medieval castle, with dragons, elixirs and the wizard himself figuring on the reels as premium symbols. These pay between 5x and 8x your stake for 5-oak, and the base game dishes out random prizes (or the bonus round) when you least expect it. A lot is decided up front however, as you’ll need to be lucky with the symbol-to-wild transformation to stand a chance at cracking the potential.
Secrets Of The Sorcerer Slot - Reels ScreenSecrets Of The Sorcerer Slot Features
The Secrets Uncovered feature will trigger at random times in the base game, and this awards either a larger payout, or it triggers the bonus round. Landing only 2 scatters charges the Bonus Chance meter seen on the left-hand side, and each ‘near-miss’ increases the green segment a little bit.
You can click this meter to spin the Bonus Wheel at any time, and it will cost you 1x your stake. You win the bonus round if you land on the green segment, but if you land on red the meter resets to 0 % again. It’s probably a good idea to wait a bit before you take your chances, in other words.
The Bonus Round is triggered organically when you land 3 scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin. You will then choose between 3 potions in the high tower of the castle, and this gives you a random number of free spins. A random number of symbols can also be revealed after your number of spins are determined, and these will serve as golden wild symbols during the feature.
You will collect potion symbols during the bonus round, and you need to collect 3 to win +2 extra spins. The wizard can appear at random times, and this means that you win a larger payout. On rare occasions the potions can explode to reveal wild multipliers of x2, x3 or x5. This means that the golden wild will land with the given multiplier attached during the feature.
The 200 Spins Secrets Of The Sorcerer Slot Experience
We had a couple of ‘near-miss’ bonus meter fillers up front, but then we finally triggered the bonus round at 0:51 into the 3-minute highlights video. We got 2 of the top-tier symbols as golden wilds, and the mid-level feather turned into a x3 golden wild. Hit the play button below to see for yourself how we fared.
Review Summary
Visually, it’s hard to go wrong with 8-bits graphics, as many players will feel the nostalgia. There is something about this game that evokes similar feelings as classic adventure games, and we also love the 8-bit soundtrack and sound effects. So far, so good, in other words, but the gameplay itself, and the features, is another question entirely.
The base game is barebones except for the randomly triggered Secrets Uncovered feature, and it’s a bit lame that you don’t know how big the random prize you can win actually is. The bonus round is decent enough, and especially if you get some wild multiplier action going, but it’s hardly anything special. The potential is solid for a medium volatile game, but we’re unsure if the nostalgic appeal is enough for players to return to this game.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Random Secrets Uncovered prize | Mediocre vibe beneath the nostalgic appeal |
| Near-miss bonus wheel charger | |
| FS w/ random wilds or multiplier wilds | |
| Win up to your stake |
