Scatter Monsters Review
The game asks “Do you love festivals or think they’re hell on Earth?”. This reviewer leans more towards hell on earth, at least if it rains and you’re sleeping in mud. Anyway, Scatter Monsters take you to a festival that plays out in the underworld, and it’s known as Scatterbury amongst all the monsters, demons, and vampires of the world. It has become mighty popular too, with more than 200,000 “culture-loving” monsters attending each year.
You’re definitely in for a unique treat with this release, and the symbols are collected as “souls” that fill up 3 different Soul Meters. Two of them award modifiers, while the third meter triggers the bonus round. The feature comes with a multiplier system based on leftover souls in the respective meters, and you can win up to 1,493x your stake. Not the most exciting win cap we’ve seen, perhaps, but this is a mid-range installment aimed at casual punters.
Scatter Monsters Slot Features
The symbols are divided into 3 different colors, and you get blue vampires, green zombies, and red demons. The colors correspond to 3 different Soul Meters seen on the left, and we’ll get back to that below. You win between 0.2 and 1.5 x your stake for 8-9 matching symbols anywhere in view. Landing 26-36 matching symbols in view awards between 0.75 and 10 x your stake, and Wild symbols step in for pay symbols to help create or improve wins.
Winning symbols are collected by the Soul Meter, and this also removes the symbols from the grid. New and/or existing symbols drop down to fill the gaps, and the process repeats as long as you keep winning. The symbols are collected in the 3 different meters according to their color, and a full meter awards the following modifiers:
- Vampire Soul Meter (20 symbols) - upgrades all low-value symbols to their premium counterpart. If there are no low value symbols in view, medium pay symbols are upgraded instead.
- Zombie Soul Meter (40 symbols) - removes all symbols of a randomly chosen color, and these are collected by the relevant soul meter.
- Demon Soul Meter (60 symbols) - awards the bonus round with 8 free spins, plus 1 additional free spin for every 25 symbols you collect above the minimum of 60.
You can overfill the Vampire and Zombie meters, and this means you can trigger the modifiers multiple times. All 3 meters reset between spins.
The Bonus Round triggers from the Demon Soul Meter only, as described above, and leftover symbols in the meters are converted into a win multiplier that boosts the current win. You get a multiplier boost of x1, x3, x5, x7, x10, or x20, for 0-15, 16-30, 31-50, 51-70, 71-100, or 101+ remaining symbols, respectively.
The 200 Spins Scatter Monsters Slot Experience
You get to see a longer winning streak that culminates in the bonus round being triggered, and this happens right as the 5-minute highlights video starts. The bonus round starts around 0:50 into the video, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
Partying with zombies, monsters, and vampires is a lot more fun than it perhaps should be, and has created a highly original and lively grid slot with Scatter Monsters. You’re taken to the pit of hell quite literally in this game, and the visuals are highly engaging and fun to behold. As with so many grid slots, the name of the game is filling up modifier meters, and this can prolong your winning streak.
Everything keeps building towards the bonus round trigger, where the multiplier system kicks in to make your soul collection wins more lucrative. This is clearly a game that’s aimed at the casual crowd, and not hardcore gamblers, as is evident from the medium volatility. However, we are still a bit disappointed about the measly 1,493x potential, and pushing that number up to 5,000x would’ve gone a long way. It is what it is, however, so you either take it or leave it.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Scatter Pay System w/ Cascading Wins | 1,493x potential w/ 1 in 100m hit rate |
| 2 symbol collection meter modifiers | Beware of adjustable RTP ranges |
| FS w/ leftover symbols multiplier system |
