Scarab Kingdom Review

A game with a balanced set of features and a somewhat innovative twist. We enjoy seeing a greener side of ancient Egypt, instead of another dusty tomb, and the math model is solid.

The sticky expanded scroll wilds that shrink per spin takes center stage, as you collect scarab scatters to eventually trigger the 5,000x jackpot Pick’em Game. In addition, you have a very exciting bonus round to look forward to, as it goes on indefinitely as long as wild scrolls of different sizes are present. Both the top-tier Pharaoh and Cleopatra symbols can land fully expanded too, and they pay 10x for 5 on a payline, just like the scroll wild does.

Scarab Kingdom slot Features

Wild scrolls can land anywhere on all 5 reels, and these symbols substitute for all regular pay symbols to help you win. What’s more, a Wild Scrolls feature triggers from the Scarab Collect feature, and this turns whole reels into fully expanded wild scrolls. Expanded wild scrolls become sticky, and they shrink one position from top to bottom per spin until they disappear.

The Scarab Holder meter above the reel set is where the blue scarab scatters are collected. You need to collect 3 on the same reel to trigger the Wild Scroll feature as described above. You trigger the Pharaoh’s Bonus Round when you land 3 red scarab scatters on the 3 middle reels. The red scatters can land on top of expanded wild scrolls, and you get an indefinite amount of free spins with a multiplier that starts at 1x. The multiplier increases by +1 per free spin, and it applies to all wins.

You start the bonus round with a fully expanded wild scroll on the middle reel, and it shrinks one position down per free spin. All regular 1x1 wilds that land expand to cover the full reel, and these become wild scrolls that also shrink down per spin. The bonus round only ends when no more wild scrolls are present anywhere on the grid.

Review Summary

The backdrop is refreshingly green for an ancient egypt-themed game, with a canal running through in the middle. The wild scroll feature is a breath of fresh air too, providing plenty of opportunity for decent base game payouts (300x is the most you can hope for in that regard). It’s a satisfying and original way to present expanded sticky wilds, but the Pick’em Game is probably your best chance at cracking the 5,000x potential.

No doubt, this can also happen in the Pharaoh bonus round, due to the multiplier that increases per spin. The more wild scroll you land, the longer the feature drags out, and the more you stand to win. When multiple wild reels line up, and you’ve racked up a decent multiplier, pretty much anything can happen. Overall, Scarab Kingdom comes with a well-balanced set of features, a solid math model and an original take on an overused theme.
