The fairytales are not always “a fairytale”, if you catch our drift, as they can be quite brutal at times. The story about Rumpelstiltskin made an impression on this reviewer as a child at least, and it’s about a miller’s daughter who gets saved/kidnapped by a strange creature who has the ability to spin straws into gold. She has to pay with her firstborn child, however, but it ends well as the child somehow figures out the name of the creature to save himself.

Rumpelstiltskin looks a bit like an evil leprechaun in Riches of Rumpelstiltskin Megaways, and the symbols will make more sense if you’re familiar with the fairytale (hence the brief summary above). You get fairly standard Cascading wins, and random mystery symbols and max megaways triggers are thrown in for good measure. The Rumpel Respins feature comes with 4 upgradable boosters, and it can lead to 5,000x payouts.

Review Summary

The Twisted Tales series keeps on keeping on with yet another hold and win installment, and it’s not the worst installment we’ve seen. It’s far from the best we’ve seen as well, but you get decently charming action commentary and a bright and colorful presentation with some twists and turns. The mystery symbols and max megaways feature are hardly innovations, but they keep the base game interesting together with cascading wins.

The Rumpel Respins round comes with an okay 1 in 261 spins hit rate, and it elevates itself above the swamp of mediocrity via the 4 boosters. It can be a bit frustrating that you need to collect 3 of each to activate and upgrade, but when they do their thing you don’t mind it so much. We have seen similar things before, of course, and the 5,000x potential is also significantly below average for this engine. We had a decent time with Riches of Rumpelstiltskin Megaways, but will probably not return for a second helping.
