Reel Lucky King Megaways Review
This title is a follow-up to a previous game, and it’s very close to being a simple reskin. While the first game had a fruit machine inspired theme, this title has a more rustic vibe, with reel positions made of wood.
We had our hopes up for a brand new take on the genre, and this is where things are disappointing. All the features are essentially the same as in the first game, but now you get to play with a below-average RTP of 95.56 %. The whole release seems kind of pointless in our view, and it comes across as uninspired.
Reel Lucky King Megaways Features
A random number of reels will land with a golden yellow color on each spin. Each Cascading win that follows lights up 1 more reel from left to right. When all 6 of the regular reels are lit up with the yellow color, you have secured the Reel King feature.
However, 1 or 2 more Cascading wins after that means that you reach the Super King or the Lucky King feature. You can follow the progress via the left-hand-side bonus ladder. All 3 features are essentially the same, but the free spins trail and the number of Reel King Mini Slots that can land will vary as follows:
- Reel King - 1 or 2 Reel King Slots will land, and the free spins trail has 4 blanks before you reach the minimum of 8 free spins. The trail goes all the way up to 15 free spins.
- Super King - 2 or 3 Reel King Slots will land, and the trail has 4 blanks also here. You will still get 8 free spins after the 4 dead steps on the trail, but now the trail goes up to 20 free spins in the end.
- Lucky King - 3 to 6 Reel King Slots will land, and the first 3 steps on the trail give you 8 free spins. After that the trail offers 9 free spins, which increases up to 25 spins on the final step.
As the feature begins, you will land a random number of Reel Kings holding their respective Mini Slots. The Mini slots have 3 reels, and all combinations of flowers you land will pay between 1x and 10x. 3 red flowers pays the top prize of 10x, and the Mini Slots keep spinning as long as you win. Land a black square symbol, and that Reel King is removed from the screen.
Just like in the regular gameplay, the reels on the Mini Slots will also land with a yellow color sometimes. When all 3 of the Mini Reels are yellow, you move one step ahead on the free spins trail. The feature ends when all Reel Kings have been removed.
If you’ve reached a free spins position on the trail, the bonus round will start right after the Reel Kings feature is finished. The bonus round comes with an unlimited progressive multiplier that increases with +1 per Cascade. Each Cascading win will also turn one more reel red, and the lit reels don’t reset in the bonus round.
When all 6 reels have been turned red, you trigger the bonus round version of the Reel King feature. The red-bearded Leprechaun appears with 2 reels on top of each other. One reel awards 1 to 3 extra free spins, while the other reel might increase your multiplier by +1, +2 or +3, or nothing.
Finally, you can gamble all winnings to win free spins in this game. You will be taken to a screen with a free spins trail above a Bonus Wheel in the middle. The Bonus Wheel comes with red and green segments, and these reflect your winning chances. You can spin the wheel several times to move along the free spins trail, and up to 25 free spins can be won this way.
The 200 Spins Reel Lucky King Megaways Experience
We triggered the Reel King feature pretty early on in our test session. We didn’t go far on the free spins trail however, but we secured a 10x win. Moments later we gambled it away on the free spins Wheel. The same thing basically repeated a bit later in the session.
Review Summary
The Reel King concept is popular. However, not too much has been done to make this follow-up title stand out from the previous one. The RTP has been lowered down to 96.56 % (from 96.23 %) for some reason, but otherwise the math model is pretty much the same.
You can win up to 12,500x your stake here too, which is solid enough, but the max bet is still “only” £20 per spin. All the bonus features are the same as in the original title, albeit with some minor visual changes. The volatility is still high, and because of the lower RTP we see no reason to prefer this game over the successful predecessor.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 3-tier Reel King Mini Slot feature with free spins trail | Very similar to previous title |
| Bonus round with unlimited progressive multiplier and extra spins | Lower RTP of 95.56 % |
| Win up to 12,500x your stake |
