This studio's releases have been rather lackluster up to this point. While it’s hardly all doom and gloom, we haven’t been particularly thrilled by anything so far. With Pixi Fall, the team is taking on a bigger challenge, though, and this new release has quite some depth in terms of gameplay features, so let’s find out how far the studio has gone with it! For starters, the playing field of Pixi Fall is entirely classic, featuring 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines.

Pixelated graphics aren't that common in modern online slots, but, when you do, they are typically associated with old-school video games. That’s the case here as well, and you’ll like the package if you have fond memories of games like Space Invaders or Pac-Man.

Unfortunately, the studio haven’t moved one bit as far as sharing technical details is concerned, which means that we have very little info about Pixi Fall’s mathematical model. This wasn’t much of a problem a couple of years ago, but we are now living in an age in which most studios are happy to share essentially everything, so it’s very disappointing to see them not following that trend.

Pixi Fall Slot Features

There are as many as 12 pay symbols in Pixi Fall, and it’s quite easy to divide them into 6 low pays and 6 high pays. For the former, there are fruit symbols, which call back to games like Pac-Man. They can be worth up to 4x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination. For the latter, there are all kinds of aliens that call back to games like Space Invaders. There are actually two top-paying symbols instead of just one, and they are both worth 15x your bet for a full winning combination.

In addition to pay symbols, Pixi Fall also has three special symbols - Wilds, Star Scatters and Green Ball Scatters. Wilds are quite straightforward in this slot, as they only substitute for other symbols in winning combos.

As far as Pixi Fall’s gameplay features are concerned, we have to start with the Cascading Wins feature. All winning symbols are automatically removed from the board and replaced with new ones, allowing you to chain a couple of wins together. Even better, these wins come with a progressive win multiplier, which can go to up to 11x.

At random, the game can transform a number of symbols into Wilds, which can naturally lead to some neat wins.

If you land 3 or more Star Scatters in one go, you’ll trigger the Mystery feature, which will reveal coin wins hidden underneath the Star Scatters in question. If you land 3 or more Green Ball Scatters, on the other hand, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature with 10 free spins. During those, two identical monster symbols can join forces and transform symbols between them into matching ones, giving you a horizontal line win as a result.

Review Summary

At the end of the day, we have mixed feelings about Pixi Fall. On one hand, it’s a big step up from previous slots from this studio, and it’s packed with quite a few interesting gameplay features. On the other hand, we have essentially no info about the game’s math model, and our testing proved to be a surprisingly grindy experience, which makes us wonder just how volatile this slot really is. If you’re into old-school video games, you might want to check it out. You don’t really have to bother if you don’t belong to that category, however.
