Pirate Adventures Review
The quality of slots has been rather lackluster over the years, but that won’t ever stop us from taking a closer look at new releases. In this particular article, we’ll take a look at Pirate Adventures, which is a pretty classic slot with 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines. It does have two free spins options, though!
The visual side of things is, unfortunately, rather unimpressive, and the designers didn’t even aspire to do all that much with the basic pirate theme. The game’s high-paying symbols are thematic, and we do appreciate that, but why does it all come with a white background? That detail is honestly so bothersome that we have no idea how it slipped in!
As for the game’s math model, we’re unfortunately unable to tell you anything substantial. That’s because the developers remain to be secretive about the math models of their games, and there’s obviously nothing we can do about that.
Pirate Adventures Slot Features
There are 10 pay symbols in Pirate Adventures, and they are divided into two categories. First, there are 6 low-paying symbols with card ranks from Nines to Aces, and these can net you up to 16x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination. Then, there are thematic high-paying symbols with cannons, treasure chests, pirate ships, and even pirates. Pirate ships and pirates pay out even in sets of two, and a set of five pirates is worth 200x your bet! The symbol payouts are certainly rather high here, but getting to them is by no means easy.
For special symbols, there are Skull Wilds and Compass Scatters. Skull Wilds can naturally substitute for any of the pay symbols to help you complete wins, but they also work as Multiplier Wilds, doubling all wins in which they feature.
If you land 3 Compass Scatters on the slot’s three middle reels, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature with 10 free spins. The kicker, though, is that there are actually two free spins options to get. Unfortunately, the selection is random, so you won’t get to choose.
Black Free Spins give you free respins with the winning symbols held in place whenever you get a winning combination. That way, you can boost your wins every now and then.
Red Free Spins, on the other hand, select one of the high-paying symbols at random. Those symbols then don’t have to be fully adjacent to each other to net you a win during the Free Spins feature.
Review Summary
Although it’s certainly nice to see developers include some free spins variety in their games, Pirate Adventures isn’t a slot worth playing. Its presentation is lackluster, and the fact that we don’t know anything about its math model doesn’t exactly fill us with confidence either.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Multiplier Wilds | Rough presentation |
| 2 types of free spins | Unknown math model |
| Just not a great experience overall |
