Once upon a time, a solitary volcano existed in the ocean's heart. From its peak, it longed for companionship. Unbeknownst to it, Pele, the Goddess of fire and volcanoes, heard its yearning and resolved to fulfill its wish for an island. She hurled fiery fountains skyward and directed a mighty river of lava from the isolated volcano, fashioning a stunning and vibrant sanctuary, now known as the eight Hawaiian Islands.
