Olympus Raging Megaways Review

We had a pretty decent time with both previous installments in this series, but they weren't anything too special either. The same can hardly be said about Olympus Raging Megaways, which depicts an epic battle between the kingdom of the gods and the underworld. This game definitely sticks out from most Megaways installments, and you get a spin on both the Zeus and the Hades grid per base game round.

These are both fully fledged Megaways grids with a top reel, and Mirror Wilds is an innovative new feature that is only found in this installment. The progressive multiplier bonus rounds from both predecessor games can trigger individually, and they can also combine forces in the epic Battle Bonus Round. This means that you get both random wilds and top-reel walking wilds, and the 25,000x potential tops this off as an epic grand finale.

Olympus Raging Megaways Slot Features

Both the Zeus Reel on the left and the Hades Reel on the right will spin per round, including both reel sets respective top horizontal tracker reels. The symbols may be different per grid, but their values are the same.

The premiums pay between 0.4 to 25 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and you can also land Wild symbols that step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Winning symbols are removed and replaced via the Cascading mechanic, and this repeats indefinitely as long as you keep winning.

The Wheel of Kronos Meter is placed in between the two grids, and coins are hidden behind random pay symbols on both reel sets. Winning symbols reveal the coins, and these are then collected in the meter. Fill the meter with 12 coins in the same cascading sequence to trigger the Wheel of Kronos feature. The Wheel spins to award either a smaller cash prize of x2, x3, or x5, or the Mini, Maxi, or Grand jackpots worth 10x, 50x, or 100x your stake, respectively.

The Mirror Wilds feature triggers when you land matching symbols in the exact same position on each of the two grids. All involved symbols on both grids are then turned into wild symbols, and this will only occur on the initial spin. Also, the involved reels must have the same number of positions, and this feature only triggers in the base game.

The Max Megaways feature can trigger at random times, and this maxes out both of the grids with the maximum number of positions per reel. This also gives you the maximum number of win ways, of course, which amounts to 235,298 in total for both grids.

You need 4, 5, or 6 Zeus scatters in view on the Zeus Reel to trigger the Zeus Bonus Round, and this gives you 12, 17, or 22 free spins, respectively. The win multiplier is progressive and unlimited, and it starts at x1 and increases by +1 per cascading win. You win +5 or +10 extra spins when 3 or 4 Zeus scatters appear on the top reel, respectively, and Zeus may turn symbols wilds or add wilds to random positions at random times.

The Hades Bonus Round triggers exactly like the Zeus feature, but with Hades scatters and on the Hades Reel instead. Hades will add a walking wild symbol to the rightmost position on the top horizontal reel at random times, and it moves one step to the left per spin that follows until it walks off to the uttermost left. The walking wilds can only be used once per spin, and you can get up to 4 walking wilds at the same time.

The Battle Bonus Round triggers from 4 battle scatters in total across both reel sets, and this awards 15 battle free spins. This feature makes use of both reel sets, and you win +5 extra spins when you land 4 battle scatters anywhere in view on the same free spin. You get an unlimited progressive win multiplier, and it increases by +1 per cascading win on either of the grids. Also, Zeus can add random wilds to his grid, while Hades can add walking wilds to the top reel on his grid.

The Bonus Buy feature is available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. If eligible, you can purchase the Zeus (96.52 % RTP) or Hades (96.4 % RTP) bonus rounds for 75x the stake, and the Battle Bonus Round (96.44 % RTP) for 250x the stake.

Review Summary

Both previous installments in this series were decent Greek mythology games without being anything too special. However, they were admittedly elevated above average by sporting powerful math models and solid audiovisuals. Olympus Raging Megaways seems like a natural culmination of what now amounts to a trilogy, and it’s bigger and bolder than most Megaways releases for sure. Ironically, the smaller size of the two reel sets makes them look kind of cute instead of “powerful”, but the epic heavenly battle backdrop compensates in that regard.

The Wheel of Kronos and Mirror Wilds are brand new innovations for this release, but other than that you simply get the best of both worlds. The Kronos jackpots could’ve been higher though, as 100x isn’t all that impressive. You get a bonus round every 249 spins on average, which is decent, and the max win has been bumped up to a solid 25,000x your stake. Overall, Olympus Raging Megaways is an epic battle that combines solid features into a powerful conclusion to the Greek mythology series (if, indeed, this is the end of it).
