Night Trax Review
This game has many successful titles and is known for its creative approach. Night Trax is one of the more innovative efforts, and the base game is filled with arrow symbols that connect in different directions. These arrows split to award random multiplier boosts up to x32, and a streak respins style feature called Trax Respins plays out whenever you land a winning combo.
This adds up to an entertaining and potentially lucrative base game, but summing up smaller wins can take a long time. With bigger wins you can skip it, but the game highlights its unusual win ways system. Anyway, all is forgiven when you trigger the Sticky Multiplier Bonus Round, where massive payouts up to 10,000x your stake can be landed.
Night Trax Features
Wilds can land anywhere to step in for the arrow symbols, and thus help you form winning combos. The wild is worth the same as the highest value purple triple arrow symbol, and it pays 25x your stake for 6 on a payline.
Whenever you land a winning combo with the arrow symbols, they are held in place while the remaining reel positions respin. This is called the Trax Respins feature, and the feature repeats as long as you improve your current win or land new winning combinations.
The lower-value diagonal arrows connect in multiple directions across the grid, and they can also create a split in 2 different directions. When this happens, a random multiplier of 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x or 32x is added to the relevant paylines.
You trigger the ‘streak respins’ type Bonus Round when you land 3 bonus symbols anywhere in the base game. The triggering bonus symbols are turned into sticky multiplier symbols of random values on the empty bonus grid. The bonus round comes with multiplier symbols in 3 different tiers as follows:
- Low Value = 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x and 7x.
- Medium Value = 10x, 15x, 25x and 50x.
- High Value = 100x, 250x and 500x.
You start with 3 free spins, and only blanks, sticky multipliers and arrow symbols will land. The free spins tally resets to 3 again for each multiplier symbol you land, while the arrow symbols upgrade multipliers. Land an arrow between a 25x multiplier and a 5x multiplier on the same row, for example, and the arrow itself becomes a 25x multiplier, while the 5x multiplier turns into a 30x multiplier.
The feature goes on until you run out of free spins, or until you’ve filled the grid with nothing but multiplier symbols. If you manage to fill the grid with multipliers, the spin tally resets to 3 one last time, and all the multipliers are summed up 3 times as it counts down. If you don’t fill the grid, your multipliers are summed up only once.
The 200 Spins Night Trax Experience
We had some smaller payouts in the base game, and we soon decided to purchase the Super Bonus Game to see what this thing was really made of. You can see the feature trigger around the 1-minute mark, and simply hit the play button below to see how much we got away with.
Review Summary
This studio never stops being experimental, and Night Trax is certainly a very good example of their creative spark. It’s also one of those games where you really benefit from trying the free demo version first, as the quirkiness of the gameplay might not be for everyone. We certainly had a very good time with this release though, and we really like how the different arrows connect, and potentially split for boosted payouts.
The Trax Respins feature is enough to keep the base game interesting and fresh, and up to x32 multiplier boosts per split can lead to significant payouts. The Hold & Respins style Bonus Round is also a lot more fun than most similar games, not only due to the solid multiplier range and the 10,000x potential, but because the arrow upgrade feature adds an extra layer of unpredictability and tension. The 95 % RTP is a bit of a drawback though, and summing up smaller multiple line wins takes a bit too long sometimes.
