We haven’t seen all that many oriental inspired releases until now, but they have a few. Mystic Orbs doesn’t really look like a full-blown asian-themed release in our view, so it’s suitable also for players who don’t enjoy that sometimes overly ornamented style. The symbols are neatly carved mythological animals, emperors and such, and it’s all set against a simple stonewall backdrop.
The backstory is that the dragon, Ying Longs, guards the entrance to emperor Yu the Great’s treasure chamber, and you’ll make use of all features and modifiers at your disposal to get your hands on the riches. Modifier symbols appear on the top Feature Reel on each spin, but you need special orb symbols to trigger the features. The bonus round awards more of the same, with a non-resetting multiplier and a 10,000x potential.
Mystic Orbs Slot Features
You need 5 to 18+ matching symbols in a cluster anywhere on the 5x5 grid to win, and 18+ premiums pay between 300 and 2,000 x your stake. The Wild symbol steps in for all pay symbols to help form winning clusters, and a cluster of only wilds pay the same as the top-tier symbol. It will most likely take you a while to get into the swing of things when you first try Mystic Orbs, and the visual presentation is a bit simpler than you might be used to. Still, the neatly carved marble symbols are well-made, and the asian theme is low-key enough for westerners to enjoy as well. As usual, the features can conspire to produce solid results on a good day, and it gets more fun once you get a handle on what’s going on.
The multiplier is key to larger payouts, which is hardly a surprise, but the high symbol values can do damage on their own as well. Too bad the Super Bonus cannot be triggered organically, as this is where the game truly fires on all cylinders. The regular bonus round is solid as well though, awarding up to 10,000x your stake at best. The 95 % RTP is something we’re used to by now, but we also know it might be a deal-breaker for some players.
