Mustang Trail Review

There are tons of similar slots, and it’s safe to say that they are well-versed in the North American animal and Native American genre. The visual presentation doesn’t really stick out in any way compared to previous releases, and the 5x3 grid is set inside an Indian camp with tipis in the background. Mustang Trail is a title that fits the bill, however, as you can see the horses galloping in the background (if you pay close attention).

Not only that, but the bonus round also comes with a massive trail above the grid, and golden mustang scatters are collected to award extra spins and sticky wilds. This is the main attraction for sure, but you do get extra wilds whenever at least one wild appears in the base game. Even a grid full of wilds awards “only” 1,500x, however, so you’ll need the bonus round to close in on the 5,000x potential. Mustang Trail is nothing too special, perhaps, but still a decent shelf-filler that will probably entertain some players for a while.

Review Summary

If you pay close attention down to the left, you will see Mustangs running along what we presume is their trail in the background, but you’ll only catch a brief glimpse before they disappear behind the grid. The effort seems a bit wasted, however, and we only wish more of it into the actual gameplay. Overall, the visuals are fairly standard stuff in the North American animal genre, and this one comes with a Native American angle which is fairly common as well.

The random wilds that spawn from each wild you land can certainly be helpful, but it’s hardly the height of innovation. The Mustang Trail you get in the bonus round can award a decent amount of extra spins, but getting only 1 sticky wild per retrigger seems stingy. It’s hard to go very far on the trail as well, but at least the bonus round triggers fairly often. The 5,000x potential is standard stuff as well. It comes with a solid 1 in 10,438,413 spins hit rate though, but Mustang Trail is not a game we will return to anytime soon.
