The cartoonish visual style is polished enough to make a decent first impression, and it does make Moon Spirit Hold & Win stick out a bit from the get-go. The vibe is more relaxed and less serious than in similar games, but you still have to strap yourself in for a somewhat bumpy ride in the untamed North American wilderness.
This release comes with a few twists and turns that makes it somewhat interesting. Moon Spirit Hold & Win Features
The howling wolf Wild can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 only, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combos. It also comes with an x2 multiplier, and the wild multipliers can multiply up to x8 if you land 3 as part of the same win. The wild holds no value of its own, and the premium symbols pay between 2.33 and 13.33 x your stake.
The Moon Mystery Spin feature can trigger at any time, and you will then see stacks of mystery symbols fill a good portion of the 5x3 grid. The mystery symbols all reveal the same matching pay symbols once the spin stops, and this can lead to larger base game payouts.
You need 5+ Moon Spirit scatters in view to trigger the Dreamcatcher Hold & Win Respins feature. The triggering moon symbols turn into Dreamcatcher symbols, and these are sticky on a new, cleared grid. You get 3 respins for starters, and the tally resets for every new Dreamcatcher symbol you land.
The triggering dreamcatchers are all “level 1” symbols, but landing new sticky dreamcatchers upgrade all adjacent (above, below, left and/or right) symbols to the next tier. You can get plenty of dead spins for a while, before a boosted wild win tops up your balance. Also, the Moon Mystery Spins feature will usually provide a decent top-up, while more significant payouts are bound to come from the Dreamcatcher Hold & Win Respins feature.
Overall, this is a pretty run of the mill effort in the Hold and Win genre though, with a few decent tweaks to make it interesting enough for a spin or two. We like the 3-tier dreamcatcher upgrade system, but the 1,000x Grand Jackpot isn’t all that impressive. Plenty of red dreamcatchers will create a tense Spirit Wind reveal moment in the end though, and the overall 6,480x potential is pretty solid.
