The original Moon Princess took the world of online slots by Storm, Love, and Star-power. We had our hopes up for something brand new this time, or at least notably different than what we have seen before. If you feel the same, brace yourself, as Moon Princess Trinity is very similar to the previous releases. In fact, the most notable difference is a weaker math model.

The cutesy anime charm is going strong as usual, and you get a Girl Power princess by your side at all times. They unleash their different modifiers to help prolong cascading sequences, and wilds spawn to help you out as well. The aim is to collect enough winning princess symbols to trigger the Trinity Free Spin feature, where the 3 girls unleash their powers one after another. This can even repeat if you clear the grid, and the max win is 4,000x your stake in this version.

Moon Princess Trinity Slot Features

The 3 princesses are the premium symbols in this game, among other things, and Love, Star, and Storm all pay 3x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. In addition, they also pay 2x your stake for a 5-oak mix of any of them in the same cluster. The low value object symbols all pay 1x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and winning is key to triggering this game’s different modifiers and features.

All winning symbols are removed via the Cascading mechanic, and only existing symbols will then drop down to fill the gaps. New symbols do not appear, as is usually the case with this mechanic, but all winning combos leave behind a wild symbol in one empty position. Wilds pay 5x your stake for 5 wilds on a payline, and wilds also step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.

Random positions are highlighted by blue lines, and each win above highlighted positions increase the win multiplier by +1. The multiplier builds indefinitely per cascading sequence, but it resets between paid base game spins.

One of the Moon Princesses is always present on the right-hand side, and each princess comes with a unique modifier. The modifier will be unleashed at random times on non-winning spins, or at the end of a cascading sequence to prolong your winning streak. The modifiers are as follows:

• Love - turns a symbol type into another symbol type.
• Star - adds 1 or 2 wild symbols randomly placed on the grid.
• Storm - removes two symbol types to trigger a cascade.

The meter on the left-hand side will eventually trigger the Trinity Free Spin, and you fill 1, 2, or 3 of the 6 sections by landing 3, 4, or 5 of a kind wins with the princess symbols, respectively. A full meter requires 6 princess symbol wins in the same cascading sequence, and this gives you a Free Spin where Love, Star, and Storm take turns unleashing their respective modifiers. Clearing the grid retriggers the feature while the multiplier keeps building all the way.

You win a 50x your stake prize if you manage to clear the grid outside of the Trinity bonus round, and wild symbols are removed if they are the only remaining symbols on the grid.

Review Summary

There is no doubt that the original Moon Princess is an all-time classic in the world of online slots, and we’ve already seen several follow-up remakes as well . The masculine counterpart, Rise of Olympus 100, is also worth a mention. It’s therefore a tad disappointing that Moon Princess Trinity does not come across as the “definitive” follow-up, so to speak. Instead, it’s just another version of the original with a few juxtapositions to make it somewhat “unique”.

Don’t get us wrong, Moon Princess Trinity is a fast-paced and highly entertaining cluster pays grid slot, but we admittedly found the “encouraging” action commentary to be a bit annoying after a while. Luckily, you can turn off the voices while keeping the sound. The 4,000x is a massive step down compared to the Moon Princess 100 remake, and it’s also lower than what’s on offer in the original game. This seems like a strange choice to be honest, and it would’ve made more sense if this game’s volatility was in the lower to medium end of the spectrum. It’s not, however, so we prefer the 100 release for now.
