Miles Bellhouse And The Gears Of Time Review
Visually, the game is very impressive, and you will see Miles and his robot friend, Gizmo, shift to different aged versions of themselves as the game mode shifts between present, past and future. This happens via the Clusters of Time mechanic which offers 3 different reel modifiers in the base game. You can place bets between 5p and £50 per spin here, and play on your mobile, tablet or desktop/laptop.
You might be a bit perplexed by all the moving parts at first, and it certainly helps to have read about the features before you get started. It looks like a lot is happening all the time here, at least at first, but with discernment you’ll understand that triggering the features is not as easy as it might seem. Still, this is a well-made sequel in most regards, but we would have wished for a somewhat more attractive potential.
Miles Bellhouse And The Gears Of Time Features
As we said, there are a lot of moving parts in this game, and players knowing nothing about it might feel a bit overwhelmed at first. Worry not however, as we’ll get you up to speed in no-time here. First of all, this game comes with a Clusters of Time mechanic that is somewhat unusual.
All symbols that combine into a winning cluster (3 to 25) become sticky on the reels. The remaining symbol positions will then respin, and the process continues as long as you keep adding to the winning cluster. Charged wilds that look like lightning balls will also be sticky if part of a winning cluster, and will substitute for all regular symbols.
However, there are also 5 markers made of pipe that shift around on the reels and highlight 5 different reel positions every time. Once a cascade is finished, 1 or more of the winning symbols might find themselves in a highlighted reel position. The more winning symbols that are framed by these pipes, the higher your chances are of triggering 1 of 3 Time Travelling Modifiers:
- The Past - replays the last round, and gives you up to 5 times to “improve upon the past” and land a bigger cluster win.
- The Present - gives you a random multiplier boost between 2x and 20x.
- The Future - a random symbol is selected, and you get at least 10 instances of it randomly placed on the reels.
If all 5 of the pipe markers are covering winning symbols you trigger the free spins bonus round. You will then get to choose your “time stream”, which gives you 1 of 3 different free spins rounds as follows:
- 12 Past Spins gives you a re-cascade at the end of each round in order to once again improve upon the past.
- 10 Present Spins gives you a 2x to 20x multiplier boost on each win to “make the most out of the presence”.
- 6 Future Spins gives you at least 10 randomly selected matching symbols on each spin.
The 200 Spins Miles Bellhouse And The Gears Of Time Experience
We are fully aware that reading about this game might leave you a bit puzzled. It can often be clarifying to actually see the features in action, and you get plenty of that in our 200 spins highlights video below. We have edited out the boring parts, and it should give you a good taste of what the gameplay is all about here.
Review Summary
The pace is smooth and the 5 shifting markers makes for almost hypnotically satisfying gameplay, not least when accompanied by the clockwork sound effects.
The base game potential is only 200x without any multipliers, which is a bit low in our view. Include the multipliers, and wins up to 1,084x becomes possible. This potential is still a bit weak for a somewhat volatile game like this. Despite all the moving parts, you don’t really get the base game features all that often, and triggering the bonus round is far from easy here.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 3 different “time mode” base game modifiers | 1,084x max win potential is a bit too low |
| Choose between Past, Present of Future free spins | |
| Medium volatility and above-average 96.98 % RTP |
