According to legend, King Midas ruled in Phrygia, and everything he touched turned to gold. This included his own daughter, making him realize that what he thought was a blessing was really a curse. In Midas Magic, however, he seems happy, and there is plenty of gold laying around in his temple. Evidently, he hasn’t touched his daughter yet, so he’s still in a gold fever euphoria.

Either way, you get 3 special top reels above the 3 middle reels in the base game, and these come with cash prizes, jackpots, and the bonus round. The visual presentation is decent enough, with a somewhat manic version of King Midas helping you out in different ways. The Link&Win feature comes with a 5,000x full grid jackpot, and the overall 12,500x potential is pretty solid. There is nothing too special to see here, perhaps, but still a decent installment in the Greek mythology genre.

Midas Magic! Slot Features

The premium symbols, consisting of fruits, harps, helmets, temples, Midas’ daughter, and King Midas himself as the top-tier symbol, pay between 4 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The Wild symbol pays 20x your stake for the same, and it will also step in for pay symbols to help complete or improve wins. The wild cannot substitute for the Link&Win symbols, however.

There are 3 Special Reels above the 3 middle regular reels, and these spin at the same time as the main grid. You need a full stack of Link&Win symbols below a special reel to win the prize they present, and this can be the free spins round, cash prizes up to 5x, or the Mini, Minor, or Major Jackpots worth 10x, 25x, or 500x, respectively.

You need 6+ Link&Win symbols in view to trigger the Link&Win feature, and this starts you off with 3 respins on a new grid where the triggering symbols are sticky. The respins tally resets for each new sticky Link&Win cash symbol you land, and the regular cash symbols are worth 1 to 5 x your stake. You can also land jackpot symbols, and filling the grid awards the 5,000x Grand Jackpot.

The Free Spins round triggers from the special reels as described above, and you get 10 free spins when this happens. All 5 reels have a special reel above them in the bonus round, and reels may become wild during the feature. You can retrigger the bonus round the same way it was triggered in the first place.

Review Summary

The tragic element of the myth about King Midas is apparently lost, as they deliver a rather manic and happy version of the king in Midas Magic!. He can certainly do more than turn items and people to gold in this release, however, and he will help you out in different ways as you play. The Special Top Reel adds an extra layer of excitement to the base game, and it can land you decent prizes up to 500x your stake. The overall 12,500x potential is solid, and we like that it’s way above the 5,000x grand jackpot.

The Link&Win feature is fairly standard stuff, however, and the regular cash prizes top out at only 5x your stake. You need jackpot symbols to make a dent in other words, and the full grid 5,000x jackpot is, of course, the main attraction. The bonus round comes with random wild reels, although we saw this in the base game as well, and you get 2 extra Special Top Reel positions. This can help trigger the Link&Win feature, or land you jackpot prizes. Overall, Midas Magic! is a decent installment, but not the best Midas release we’ve seen.
