Maximator Review

It is hard to say what exactly we can all expect going forward. You see, it seems that the studio is intent on releasing one straightforward slot after another, and innovations are few and far between in that mix. Of course, that’s a legitimate business strategy, but the actual experience isn’t all that great for the players, especially since they are repeating the same formulas over and over again in many regards. That, unfortunately, is also the case with Maximator. It’s a 3x3 slot with 5 paylines, and it’s eerily similar to many previous slots.

Before we get to the details, we have to be fair and say that there are many other studios that also repeat similar formulas time and time again. For Maximator, though, they didn’t even bother with coming up with new visuals. It all appears to be lifted from previous releases, and that’s something that we have a hard time seeing. It’s a new slot, so it should offer new graphics!

Let’s now say a few words about Maximator’s mathematical model. The game’s volatility is high, and it’s definitely not helped by the 18.42% hit frequency. The even more disappointing bit, however, is the fact that the game’s fixed jackpot is only 800x your stake. Its betting range is fine, on the other hand, as it goes from just £0.05 all the way up to £100 per spin. As for the slot’s theoretical RTP, it can be 85.29%, 90.02%, 92.11%, or 95.01%.

Maximator Slot Features

There are 8 pay symbols in Maximator, and they are split into 5 low pays and 3 high pays. For low pays, there are Xs, cherries, lemons, oranges and plums. These symbols all pay low, though, only up to 1.4x your bet for a combination. Things do get better with the high pays, which show BARs, bells and sevens. Sevens are the most valuable symbols, and they’ll net you a 5x payout for a winning combination.

In terms of special symbols, there are Wilds, which can substitute for other symbols to complete winning combinations. They also have their own value, as they pay 16x your bet for a winning combination.

If you get two reels full of matching symbols without a win, you’ll trigger the Respin feature. It will give you a free respin of the third reel for another chance of winning.

Get a full set of matching symbols on the reels to trigger the Wheel of Fortune feature. Here, you’ll get to spin a bonus wheel that contains multipliers and the slot’s jackpot. If you get a win multiplier, you’ll get it applied to the triggering payout. If you get the slot’s jackpot, it will be added to the triggering payout. This means that you can actually win more than the slot’s advertised 800x jackpot, though it’s fair to say that the feature is incredibly hard to come by.

Finally, there’s the Gamble feature, which you can activate after any win and which is all about guessing the color or the suit of a face-down card. Guess right, and you’ll double or quadruple your win. Guess wrong, though, and you’ll lose your potential payout altogether!

Review Summary

All in all, Maximator isn’t a particularly bad game on its own, but it’s outright awful in the context of previous slots. The designers basically took parts of previous slots and arranged them in a slightly different manner, presenting the final result to us as a new release. That’s not really acceptable, though, is it?
