The enemies in Max Quest are split into 3 categories, standard, special, and legendary bosses. All of them can appear randomly during the session and follow a random movement path across the game screen until they're killed or exit the battlefield. All enemies have 3 levels, which determines the number of their health points.
Standard enemies include various kinds of rats, crabs, and gulls. On level 1 they have 20, 30, and 80 HP respectively, while level 3 standard enemies will come with 30, 50, and 120 HP respectively.
Whenever an enemy is slain, there's a little chance to summon one of 3 legendary bosses. Among the legendary bosses are Aluren The Siren, Captain Blackbeard himself, and the underwater monster Leviathan, which come with 2,500, 5,000, and 7,500 HP respectively.
