Magnificent Power Bastet Review
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Magnificent Power Bastet takes the familiar gameplay formula and reimagines it with an Egyptian twist. While the mechanics remain unchanged, the shift in theme transports players from the realms of Greek mythology to the mystical world of ancient Egypt, with the powerful deity Bastet now taking center stage. Basically, expect the same experience here - only this time, it’s wrapped in a different skin.
The theme of Magnificent Power Bastet doesn't stray far from the well-trodden path of Egyptian-inspired slots. It's a setting we've seen countless times before in the slots world, with nothing particularly surprising about it. The game is filled with cliched Egyptian scenery and elements, again, seen many many times already. However, while the theme may be familiar, the visuals are pretty nicely rendered, I should mention.
Magnificent Power Bastet is played on a 5x4 reel set that can expand to 6x4 during gameplay, which we'll delve into in the features section of this review. The game offers 30 fixed paylines, where symbols pay on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel, with winning combinations starting at 3-of-a-kind or more. Players can place bets ranging from €0.2 to €100 per spin, accommodating both casual players and high rollers.
The game offers three RTP settings of 96.2%, 94.2%, and 92.2%, giving players a range of return-to-player percentages depending on where they play. The game carries a medium-to-high volatility rating, rated 4 out of 5. With a hit rate of 30.12%, you'll land a winning combination nearly a third of the time. However, the maximum win is capped at a disappointing 1,428x the bet, which is far from impressive compared to other slots in the market, especially with such a level of variance.
Magnificent Power Bastet Features
Players familiar with the previous installment should know what to expect in Magnificent Power Bastet. Central to the gameplay is the Magnificent Power mechanic, which unlocks different upgrades as you progress through the game, and there are stacked Wilds, multipliers, and free spins.
Wild symbols & Replace Feature
The goddess Bastet appears on the reels in the form of a Wild symbol, and she always appears staked, covering the reel it lands on entirely. Wild symbols substitute for any of the regular ones in winning combos, producing bigger winning opportunities. However, only one Wild can appear per spin.
On any losing spin with a Wild symbol, a Replace feature might randomly take place. All symbols are removed except the Wild, and then only high-paying ones drop, guaranteeing at least 1 winning combination. This is, however, available only in the base game.
Magnificent Power
Attached to any symbol except the Wild, special tokens - Coins - can appear randomly during the gameplay. Whenever a Wild lands along with at least one Coin simultaneously, all Coins in view are collected and added to a meter above the reels. Collecting 30 and 60 unlock lucrative upgrades, as follows:
- 30 Coins collected - upgrades Wilds to Multiplier Wilds for subsequent spins. Wilds appear with random multipliers of either 2x, 3x, or 5x, applied to all wins they participate in.
- 60 Coins collected - unlocks Free Spins Feature, Free Spins Multiplier, and a 6th reel, where only Wilds, Scatters, and high-paying symbols are available.
It’s worth mentioning that unlike most games featuring some kind of collection mechanics, the progress on the Magnificent Power meter isn’t counted separately for each bet level. This means that you can take your time with lower bets until you unlock all upgrades and then switch to more serious bets you prefer playing with.
Free Spins
A feature Co. have been keen on so much recently is the Free Spins Multiplier. The idea is pretty simple - players can accumulate a multiplier value in the base game to be used when the next free spins bonus activates.
As the game reaches its 2nd upgrade, new Multiplier symbols come into play. Each increases the total multiplier by 0.5x upon landing, up to a maximum of 10x. After the bonus is triggered and complete, the value resets randomly up to 4x.
Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatter symbols at once on any base spin activates 7, 10, 15, or 20 free spins respectively. The number of free spins triggered may also randomly increase, though, not higher than 20, and the same applies to the multiplier - up to 5x can be added, up to a total maximum of 15x. During the bonus, 3, 4, or 5 Scatters retrigger 7, 10, or 15 spins respectively. Again, in the same fashion, the value can also randomly increase on a retrigger.
The bonus game operates in a similar way to the base game, but there are a bunch of changes. First is obviously the extra multiplier, applied to all wins you achieve during free games. Secondly, Wild symbols always appear as full stacks. That’s it.

Our Verdict
While I might be willing to overlook the tired and cliched Egyptian theme - given its popularity among slot players - the game still leaves a lot to be desired. The Magnificent Power mechanic itself feels rather weird. You essentially have to wait some time, or maybe even a considerable amount depending on your luck with Coin collection, just to unlock a chance at free spins. This can make the gameplay feel tedious rather than rewarding.
Another major issue is the game's statistics, particularly the max win. For a slot with medium-to-high volatility, you'd expect a much higher payout potential. Instead, the max win is capped at a rather dismal 1,428x your bet, which is far from satisfactory given the risks involved.
On the positive side, the Wild upgrades are a nice touch, especially with the random multipliers that can appear during the base game. The addition of the 6th reel also adds some excitement, creating a bigger potential when it's unlocked.
What I particularly enjoyed was the Replace feature, which can randomly turn even the worst outcome - a losing spin - into a guaranteed win. And during my test, I noticed it triggers quite frequently, which adds a layer of excitement to an otherwise mediocre experience.
In the end, Magnificent Power Bastet is a pretty skippable game. While it has a few redeeming qualities, the drawbacks outweigh the positives. If you're a fan of the theme or the original game, you might find some enjoyment here, but otherwise, it's not a game I’d recommend going out of your way to play.
