Magikspell Review
Magikspell unfolds in a spooky graveyard with twisted trees and cartoonish visuals. This is not your ordinary any-spin-can-win-big kind of game. You will need patience and persistence to squeeze out the most from this volatile game.
The main objective is to fill the Magik Meter seen above the 3-4-5-4-3 grid. Each time you do this, the bonus round multiplier is increased. The multiplier does not reset until it has given you an x250 total win bonus round boost. The meter also awards Magik Rings together with the purple gems you land. These turn positions wild on a regular basis for decent base game wins.
Magikspell Slot Features
The 5 premium symbols pay between 1.25 and 4 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol pays 5x your stake for the same. The Wild only appears as part of the Magikspell Wild feature, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete wins.
Whenever you land Purple Gems in the base game, the position is highlighted by a purple Magik Ring. The purple gems are also collected in the Magik Meter above the grid, and they can sometimes turn into Golden Gems that leave a Golden Ring behind. Golden Rings turn wild on the spin that follows, and all adjacent highlighted ring positions, as well as the symbols next to them again, also turn wild. All rings are removed after a position has been turned wild.
Each purple gem adds +1 point to the Magik Meter, and you get 3 to 8 Magik Rings spread across random positions when you reach 50 and 100 points. The Bonus Round Multiplier is upgraded when the meter reaches 150 points, in the following order: x1, x2, x3, x5, x7, x10, x12, x15, x20, x25, x50, x100, x150 and x250. The Magik Meter starts from zero after each multiplier upgrade, and when the multiplier reaches x250 no more points will be added until after the bonus round has played out. The multiplier starts over at x1 at that point.
The Magikspell Bonus Round triggers when you land 3 bonus scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4, and purple and golden rings are carried over into the feature. The rings are then turned into Prize Gems with bet multipliers, and they lock in place on a new hold-and-win style grid. You get 3 spins, and the tally resets each time you lock in place a new prize gem.
If you fill a whole reel with prize gems, all their respective values are collected, and the prize gems are then removed to make room for more. The feature thus only ends when the spin tally reaches zero, and then all prize gems are summed up and boosted by your pre-achieved bonus round multiplier. You then start all over again in a new cycle in the base game.
The 200 Spins Magikspell Slot Experience
You get a short taste of the base game, before we trigger the bonus round. Only 3 rings were carried over into the feature and turned into prize gems, and we had already managed to rack up an x7 multiplier.
Review Summary
Unlike most slots, Magikspell is a game that requires a solid commitment to see things through to the end. That is, of course, if you care about landing larger payouts. It seems pointless to engage with this installment for a couple of casual spins though, as even a full screen of wilds award nothing more than 100x your stake. The base game Sysophian grind is thus laid out for you, and it’s all about staying afloat as long as possible.
The golden ring and Magik Meter system gives you small to decent top-up wins on a regular basis, as you grind your way towards an ever larger bonus round multiplier. The feature does become more and more rewarding as you go, but it will surely take a long time before you reach the x250 multiplier. This can produce payouts up to 20,000x your stake though, but you’re looking at one hell of an anti-climax if hardly any prize gems land.
